Why Every Mom Needs to Take a Break from the Stress of Daily Living

0

There is no job more stressful than being a mom,but the bright side is, there is no job more rewarding. No matter how much you love your family, there are times when you simply want to retreat into a quiet corner for just a few moments of peace and serenity. Well then, why not do it? You deserve it, although you may not know it. If you doubt it, here are just a few reasons why every mom needs a break from the stress of daily living.

Time to Regroup and Collect Your Thoughts

Have you ever felt like you were on a treadmill with no way off? You go from morning to night without a spare moment to think about what you are doing next. This can have a devastating effect in more than one way. Not only are you driving yourself crazy, but things aren’t getting done as efficiently as they should. If you want to accomplish more in less time, you need time to regroup and collect your thoughts. It can really be just that simple. Either take time while the kids nap or if they are in school, set aside at least a half hour for yourself to do nothing other than reflect. It works like magic to recharge those much-needed batteries!

To Avoid Resenting Your Family

Sometimes we do and do and do for others without taking a moment for ourselves. There comes a point in life where you may just stop and say, “Enough! I’ve had it!” You see to everyone else’s comfort and needs which can easily lead to resentment. Why does no one see that you have needs too? Can’t someone else step up to the plate and do a load of laundry, wash the dinner dishes, or drive the kids to school? This is the time where you should do something nice for yourself. Join the candle of the month club and set aside a time when you can sit in a warm, relaxing tub with a lovely scented candle giving off a relaxing fragrance as you luxuriate in that peaceful, restful water.

Mental and Physical Health

Most important of all is that old adage, “If you don’t take care of yourself, who is going to?” If you continue to run through your life on a treadmill, you will reach a breaking point at some time or another. Not only will your mental and emotional health suffer, but you may wear yourself down to such an extent that you become physically ill. Everyone needs to rid themselves of stress which is known to cause a number of health-related issues. Although you may feel like you are letting your family down if you take a break every so often, imagine where they would be if you, yourself, reached a breaking point.

Moms tend to put everyone first and while that is very noble, there are times when you must consider your own health and peace of mind. Even a well-oiled machine breaks down with continued wear, and you can too. Don’t feel guilty when taking a break from it all because in the end, you’ll be doing yourself and your family a very big favor.
