5 Best Greek Islands for Families

2

Is it that time of year again, where you go on a family vacation, but you have no idea where to go next? Do you want to find a family-friendly vacation destination but don’t know where to look or where you should plan on going?

The Greek islands are a beautiful place to spend a vacation, with most of them being safe and family-friendly. But for those looking to stay on their toes, here is a list of the 5 best Greek islands for families.

Vacationing as a family can be tricky, especially if you have young children. These 5 islands offer the best family holidays and cater to families of all kinds. There are so many different islands to choose from, but some are more suited to couples, while others are more for adventurers.

Hydra

The first island on our list of Greek islands that are best for families, we have Hydra. This island falls part of the Saronic islands and is a must-see if you are looking for a day trip away from the mainland.

Hydra is a short two-hour boat ride from Athens and is a great place for families to visit. You can book a ferry trip with LetsFerry if you are looking for a high-quality service. This booking platform is very easy to use and it will only take you a few minutes to book the perfect trip for you and your family. Once you get to Hydra you won’t see a single car as everyone moves around by foot, boat, or even by donkey if they are moving long distances or heaving things.

This is what makes this island incredibly unique. Hiking is a very popular activity to do in hydra, as most organized activities are quite limited. This makes it a great vacation spot for those who want to go out and do their own thing, whether it’s hiking, swimming, or just walking around the island. There are some incredible footpaths that lead to some of the most beautiful, secluded beaches.

Mykonos

Next up on our list, we have Mykonos. If you have a family with teens or young adults, this is the perfect vacation destination. Mykonos is an island that has something to offer everyone in the family. Although, the islands, in the summer months, are very well known for their party scene.

This means that when visiting as a family, the younger people can go out partying and enjoying the nightlife, while the others spend the day relaxing by the beach or exploring the beautiful towns.

It is also great for families because of the family activities such as watersports on the beaches.

Crete

Moving on, the next island is Crete. Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and is also the southernmost island of the lot. Because of its sheer size, there is no shortage of things to do and places to discover on this beautiful island.

When in Crete, you can rent a car and drive across the island which will take approximately 6 hours if you don’t stop, however, along the way you will be tempted to stop at one of the many attractions and beaches that you drive past because of how beautiful and inviting they are.

Here you can also discover and learn endless amounts of history and Greek culture which is great to do as a family.

Naxos

The next island on our list is Naxos. For those traveling with children and tweens, this island is the best place to visit. Here you can find an abundance of activities that are fun for the whole family from beach activities such as kitesurfing, to other things such as horse riding, biking, and even hiking.

If these don’t interest you, you can lay out on one of the many beaches that cater to younger children, or you could even make your way around one of the quaint little towns and do some shopping.

Rhodes

The last island we have on our list is Rhodes. If you are looking for an island that has all-inclusive accommodations with things for both the adults and the children to do, then Rhodes is the place to go.

Everything you could need will be right in the vicinity of your accommodation, however, if you do want to step out, you can try an abundance of activities that are suited to the whole family.
