This Winter, Grab the Kids and Head to Sunny Surfside!

If you live in the Midwest, or anywhere north of Texas for that matter, then your view probably looks a lot like mine.

It’s only just begun and the kids and I are already for the snow and ice to disappear. I’m ready for some sunshine! What better way to do that than to escape to sunny Surfside, just east of Miami? Surfside is Florida’s #UptownBeachtown and offers all the fun of a big city within the cozy, small town atmosphere of one mile and it’s the perfect winter escape for couples and families alike!

Start your stay with the perfect hotel.  There are plenty of gorgeous high-end hotels like the glamorous Four Seasons At The Surf Club or the Sun Harbour Boutique Hotel, as well as some budget friendly options like Residence Inn by Marriott or the Solara Surfside Resort. Want to try something different? Rent a cozy cottage on the beach for a more personalized visit.

Things to Do:

There are so many things to do in Surfside and many, many more only minutes away in Miami. The visitor’s center offers tons of activities for all ages. Camps for the kids, Zumba for you. Check out their calendar here

For all you art lovers and creative types, don’t forget to check out Art Basel 2017. This showcase featuring over 269 world-renowned galleries will provide hours of enjoyment and culture.

Surfside also offers a variety of family-friendly events throughout the year. From February through April, downtown Surfside is alive with the sounds of Third Thursdays, the local street festival with fun themes like Totally 80’s. Full of food trucks, shopping and live entertainment, it’s a must-add to your itinerary. Then, when Third Thursdays are over, don’t miss First Fridays, a monthly community beach picnic for visitors and residents to get to know each other.

Surfside is also home to The Turtle Walk, a collection of 13 colorful sculptures of the Florida Loggerhead Sea Turtle. Check out all these attractions and many more, all only a short drive from your hotel.

Then, after the kids are all tired out, end the evening with a scoop or two at Serendipity, the sweetest little ice cream shop in Florida.

Tired of the same old boring souvenirs? Cruise down Harding Avenue, Surfside’s prime, downtown shopping spot. There, you’ll find stylish boutiques offering the most unique items Florida has to offer.

Nikki’s Beach House Boutique specializes in gorgeous fashions for women while Le Beau Maroc offers a variety of fashions, cosmetics and jewelry. Spruce up your beach look or update your manicure at one of their many affordable salons.
