Home Basics That Everybody Needs

0

We all love summoning our inner interior designer and buying lots of fun and creative accessories for our homes. However, not many of us enjoy buying the boring, but necessary, basics for the house.

Despite being rather unexciting, these basics are essential to your daily living. Here are some of the most important staple items that everybody needs in their home.

Sponges

Everybody needs a good dish sponge to clean off dried food or dirt from their plates and cutlery. You can buy a multipack of sponges for around a dollar and they will last you for months. It’s important to try and replace your kitchen sponge every few weeks, as bacteria and dirt can easily start to build up over time.

Washing-up Liquid

It’s no good having kitchen sponges if you don’t have any washing-up liquid to put on them! Get yourself a large bottle of this good stuff to keep your dishes looking and smelling clean and fresh.

Cleaning Spray

Whether you need to clean the kitchen countertops or the bathroom tiles, keep some cleaning spray in the cupboard.

Bleach

Bleach removes built-up dirt and mold like no other. It’s handy to keep some bleach on hand for the times when your shower hasn’t been cleaned in a while or the toilet needs a freshen up.

Rubber Gloves

If you’re using powerful cleaning products or cleaning a dirty corner of the kitchen, you’re going to want rubber gloves to protect your hands.

Microfiber Cloths

Cloths are another basic item that your home needs to keep your desk space, floors, and cupboards clean. Those made out of microfiber are the best option to clean more surfaces, including windows and mirrors.

Toilet Rolls

Everybody needs toilet rolls. It’s a good idea to buy a huge multipack of 24 for the whole family so you never run out in times of need.

Sharp Knives

Whether you’re an aspiring chef or a complete amateur in the kitchen, you’re going to need a stack of sharp knives. To cut your meat and veggies for dinner or chop up some fruits and nuts to go into your yogurt bowl, having a set of professional knives will save you a bunch of time and effort in the kicthen.

Cutlery Tray

To keep your cutlery nice and organized, grab yourself a cutlery tray to store in one of the kitchen drawers. You can get a couple of trays to keep your other baking accessories in as well!

Greaseproof Paper

For the days where you’re baking delicious cakes and cookies, you will most certainly need some non-stick paper to prevent your sweet treats from getting stuck on the baking tray.

Fruit Bowl

We all know how important it is to eat your 5-a-day. Everybody should keep a fruit bowl in their home to store their apples, oranges, and pears. You could also get a matching banana tree holder to store your favorite potassium-rich fruit.

Dustpan and Brush

When you don’t need to use the huge vacuum cleaner, having a dustpan and brush set is going to make it much easier to sweep up any dust or lost pieces of food from the floor.
