Designing The Best Bathroom For Your Family

1

When you design different areas of your house, you have different needs and wants in your mind. For a bathroom, it is about style, relaxation, fun and safety. We include the second two because if you have children these aspects may be the most important part of designing your bathroom. Whereas, if it is just you using the bathroom, you are probably more interested in the fact that it looks and feels good. But sometimes, these ideas will overlap, so here are a few ways you can design the best bathroom for everyone in your home.

Safety First

If you want your bathroom to be safe, we suggest making sure you have some rugs on the floor, particularly if it is marble or tiled. Either type of floor can be slippy when wet and can lead to a nasty fall. You can buy any type of bath mat or rug you like, and if you choose correctly, they can add to the style of your room.

On the subject of safety, you should also make sure that the base of the bath or shower is not slippery. You can do this by adding some rubber stick ons to the bottom. These come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including figurines that will appeal to young children.

Style Next

Your main priority for your children will be safety. But for you, it will be keeping your bathroom stylish. This may mean updating areas of the room or even accessories such as the faucets. The type of style you want will depend on your budget and how much time and effort you are willing to put in. For instance, your bathroom can look beautiful simply by repainting the walls and adding some modern accessories such as a vanity cabinet to the corner of the room. Or, you could increase your budget and get a bigger effect.

For instance, if you contact a designer you may be able to match the design of every decorative piece in the room. The outside of the bath will be the same colour as the tiles of the wall that in turn, match the sand-marble floor. You can also match the wood of the shelf above the sink with the wood of the cabinet, but all this will be costly. You may want to think about a cheaper restyle.

Comfort Later

But, aside from looking beautiful you will also want your bathroom to be a place where you can relax and feel comfortable. To me, one of the most important things is a a fresh smelling bathroom. I can’t express enough who walking into a bathroom that smells fresh and cleans makes me happy. There are a number of ways that you can do this such as buying a shower enclosure, provided by a site like http://www.bellabathrooms.co.uk/shower-enclosures.html. These are perfect if you want some extra space during your morning shower, and your bathroom is big enough to fit one in. You may also consider upgrading your bathtub to a bigger model, but there are simpler ways to gain some added comfort. You can add some candles to create a relaxing atmosphere or even simply buy some bath salts and bubble bath.

Taking these ideas on board, you will find that your bathroom is a place where you want to spend some time.
