Today’s trends are leading us back to nature. With the exposure of harsh chemicals as toxins, more and more people are looking for a natural and organic feel in everything they use, even if it’s just for style. That’s why Night Owl Paper Goods’ tagline “Modern Yet Folksy” fits so well. Their friendly animals smile back at you from eco-friendly and nature-inspired cards, gifts, calendars, and more.
What pulls me in the most toward their brand is their use of wood in place of paper in lots of their products. These thin wood products are so sophisticated, trendy and speak of quality and durability! They are handcrafted, which makes it so much more personal!
“With a passion for fine craftsmanship, detail & the environment, Alan Henderson and Jennifer Tatham went out on a limb to start Night Owl Paper Goods, a stationery company devoted to creating handmade letterpress cards and eco-chic wooden goodies. The duo finds inspiration in the versatile works of Swedish and American folk artists, British haberdashers, as well as the cute critters and colossal colors that Mother Nature provides daily.”
I like giving a gift with a personal touch, even if I haven’t made it myself. One of my favorite ways to do it is to make the card myself. Night Owl Paper Goods sent me some supplies, which I’ve started playing around with to design a thank you card for someone very special.
In case making cards isn’t your thing, they have a huge selection of adorable cards as well. Some are letterpress cards, and some are made from sustainably harvested birch. They have cards for every occasion you may need, in adorable, quirky but classy designs. They have holiday cards that double as ornaments, such as the gingerbreads below!
Their journals and calendars are sophisticated but fun. The Graphic Waves Journal has a flexible birch cover. It measures 5 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ and is filled with dual-sided lined 100% post-consumer recycled paper. The pattern is repeated on the inside front cover as well. The Perpetual Desk Calendar is made from eco-friendly sustainably-harvested birch wood. The thin pages are double sided – you simply need to flip them to change the date. The grain varies on each page and the jewel case flips open to become a stand. The size is 7 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ so it’s just big enough to see clearly without taking too much space on your desk.
