Crowd Cow

The How to Crowd Cow

When joining  forces with others, one becomes a “steak holder”, of the quantity and exact cuts of preference. There are no  worries about where that meat is coming from or what surprises are in store. The buyer knows where the beef is raised, and is assured that the beef purchased, is from healthy cows and the meat is cut,  processed and then shipped in prime condition.

Crowd CowThe Process

  1. Meat is dry-aged for about 14 days, then cut or ground.
  2. Next the cuts are individually packaged in single-serving sizes (vacuum-sealed in sous vide-ready pouches) and immediately flash frozen.
  3. Last, orders are delivered directly to the buyer for a flat fee.

Crowd Cow

Why grass fed?

A cows stomach is designed to break down the grasses that it forage on, therefore grass is the best diet for them.   Grain feeding has become a staple, because in mass production it is cheaper for the rancher.  Adding corn and grain to cattle diets, means rapid weight gain. As a result,  beef can be ready in as little as 12 months, rather than the 18 – 24 months for strictly grass fed. Cows have trouble  handling the added grain in their diets, so consequently, they must be given antibiotics, anti-bloating medications, etc. as part of the supplemental feeding.

I love this idea! I think it’s so much healthier for us, and it sounds much kinder to the cows to be fed grass. Thank you for sharing this!

I am not a big meat eater but my family will eat a steak. I would want them to eat the most healthy cows so this meat is a great choice.

I have been looking for something like this. I buy my meat at the store but I don’t know where it comes from and I would love to be able to buy grass fed beef.

I know when I was a kid we always raised a cow to slaughter. I think this is a good idea if you can find families to split the meat with.

That sounds like such an economical way to get grass-fed beef. Then you know the whole cow was used and didn’t go to waste.

Crowd Cow is brilliant for people who are not able to raise their own beef. I love the idea!

This sounds like such a great idea. Eating beef that comes from cows that are grass-fed is important to the quality.
