1.1. Clothes Shopping Apps

If there is something that I find bittersweet, it is shopping for new clothes. Although I love upgrading my closet and adding some variety and style to my clothes selection, I certainly don’t find it fun to spend hours at the mall to find out that they don’t have the clothes I want in my size. Also, the price tag that comes with buying new clothes is not exactly cheap. So, to save valuable time (and money!) I decided to find the best fashion shopping apps I could use on my phone. This way I don’t have to waste time driving to the mall, and I can easily compare prices for many items to make the best purchasing decision. After spending some time researching on the web, I came across a site and a list of supposedly the best clothes shopping apps. They say the following on their site:

That sounds like exactly what I’m looking for. So, I checked out some of the apps on their list and was quite pleased with the options I found. I reviewed my top 3 favorites.

Zulily – Rating: 4.8, Downloads: 1M+

My first pick is Zulily. I found this to be a great option if you want to find the best deals on clothes. Supposedly there are more than 9,000 items posted every day, which is just mindboggling, but I’m definitely not complaining as I was really impressed with the fashion catalog. I found many great pieces that I instantly added to my wishlist, and I must confess that I gave in and bought a few pieces too! I also really liked the prices, as you can find many clothes on sale with discounts of up to 50% or more, some of which are only available on the app. Another plus I found is that you can set up alert notifications, so you can find out instantly when flash sales become available.

The only drawback I found is that the order I placed took a little longer to ship than I’m accustomed to when compared with other online merchants like Amazon. However, I didn’t mind waiting an extra day or two considering the amount of savings I got on the clothes. The vast fashion catalog of top brands at great prices is certainly worth the wait.

Pros: 9,000 items posted daily, alerts for flash sales, discounts of up to 50% or more, top brands.

Cons: Order processing can take some time.

Overall: Find the best deals and discounts on top clothing brands, but keep in mind that orders take a bit of time to ship.

SHEIN – Rating: 4.5, Downloads: 50M+

My second pick is SHEIN. What I really liked about it is that you can easily create outfits from scratch using a Mix and Match feature that lets you preview how everything looks together. Although I found it to be a great tool for deciding which clothes to buy, I also found myself using it just to get clothes combination ideas for similar items that I already have in my closet. Another plus I found is that the catalog has everything from men’s and women’s clothes to kid’s clothes, so you can buy things for your whole family in one place. I also liked the styling tips you can get for practically any type of clothing item, which really helps for keeping up with the latest trends. And, last but not least, I really liked that you can return orders for free if items don’t fit or if you changed your mind.  

Although I didn’t have any issues, some users pointed out size variations between different items. However, I found the size charts for each item to be particularly handy and the user reviews are also really useful as you can see what other shoppers thought of the fit of the item before you make your choice.

Pros: Preview outfit combinations, vast catalog, styling tips, free returns, size chart.

Cons: Size variations between items.

Overall: Great for creating outfits for the whole family but keep an eye on the size charts for each item as they can vary between clothes and brands.

Hollister So Cal Style – Rating: 4.8, Downloads: 1M+

My third pick is Hollister So Cal Style. I found this to be a great choice if you are a loyal shopper and want to reap rewards from your clothing purchases. In just a few minutes I created my Club Cali account which can also be used for in-store purchases. I also like that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to build up enough points to get rewards. Accumulate enough points and you get cash discounts on future purchases. I really liked that you have the option to ship the items to your home or pick them up in-store if you prefer. Another plus I found is that you get alerts for deals you won’t find in the store.

While I didn’t have any problems logging in to my Club Cali account, I noticed that some users reported login issues. However, apparently a quick fix is to reinstall the app, or you can easily contact the customer support team if issues persist.

Pros: Rewards program, cash discounts, in-store pickup option, app-exclusive deals.

Cons: Some login issues.

Overall: Great for obtaining rewards with clothes purchases, but you might run into some login issues every now and then.

These are my top 3 fashion shopping apps. Although I have a soft spot for Hollister clothing, I also kept the other two apps on my phone as I liked the variety of clothing options and I also found the deals to be hard to beat.
