The dos

  • Get prepared for morning sickness

Despite the name, morning sickness might last the entire day all through the first trimester. There are specialized teas available that can help to beat the vomiting tendency and nausea in women. You should ensure that you ask your doctor about any medication you are taking and ensure that it is safe for pregnant women. You need to keep on doing this all through your pregnancy, just in case you get suggested with different medications. You can also check with the doctor about any other supplements or vitamins that you might be on. 

The don’ts

  • It would help if you didn’t paint the nursery

You might get excited to decorate the baby’s room. However, the solvents and chemicals in paint can be harmful and toxic. If you still wish to paint, use organic and natural colors and make sure the room has good ventilation. 

  • Don’t eat food that is harmful to your baby, and you

You need to check with your doctor about the food that is harmful to you and the baby. It would help if you didn’t eat it all. 

  • Don’t breathe in second-hand smoke, and don’t smoke

Cigarette smoke gets linked to several complications that can comprise low birth weight, premature delivery, miscarriage, cancers, behavioral or learning disabilities as your baby grows, and sudden infant death syndrome. You shouldn’t smoke (actively or passively) and taking any recreational drugs as it can cause harm to the baby.
