As the first day of school quickly approaches, kids are mourning their carefree days of summer while their parents take on the challenging task of checking off a growing list of required supplies – averaging more than $300 for some middle and high-school students this year! The tight time crunch and heavy price tags may be a cause of stress for parents over the next few weeks.
Heartburn and acid indigestion can be a result of stress in some adults, which can manifest through burning sensations in the chest, upset stomach, burning or pain in the upper abdomen, nausea or bloating. To help take control of these symptoms this school year, parents can adapt some lifestyle changes like eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day rather than larger meals that can cause uncomfortable fullness. Heartburn and acid indigestion are also made worse by smoking and drinking, wearing too-tight clothing and eating tangy or spicy foods.
A new school year is a great time to begin new, healthy habits that can benefit the whole family. Click here to learn more from Rolaids® about how to recognize and limit the symptoms of heartburn and acid indigestion.
