How to unbox a memory foam mattress

You and your partner have been instore and have had a look at buying a new memory foam mattress. Walking through the store you look and test many different types of mattresses but then you come across your perfect mattress, a memory foam one. You test it out, lay on it, see all its exciting features and then decide to order it and it arrives a couple of weeks later. Finally, it arrives at your home, now the next step is to unpack it safely and set up your bed with the new memory foam mattress.

Some people are unsure on how to do this properly as there is a correct way to do it believe it or not. Some think that you unpack it and straight away it is ready to use which is not the case. In this article we will look at a few simple, easy steps on how to set up your need mattress so you can get the best use out of it.

For it to be easy as possible you will want to remove your old mattress first so when your new one comes in, it will be easy to put it straight onto your bed. It is also a good idea to get a friend or family member to help you with this as some mattresses are extremely heavy. Make sure you keep it in the house however and do not throw it out of leave it outside as you might need it later as we mention later in the article.

Firstly, you should place the mattress onto your bedframe and then roll it out to the length of your bed to stretch it out and to make sure that it fits your bedframe properly and is not too big or too small. Now this should not really be an issue as you would of selected the size of your new mattress when you were testing it out in the store but some people do not and when their mattress arrives it is the wrong size. It always pays to double check before you fully commit to purchasing it.

Next, take off all the wrapping that your mattress comes packed in. You should use something that can easily cut through the wrapping like a knife or scissors but be careful that you do not cut the mattress itself as it would be horrible to think that you have only just gotten your new mattress and it has something wrong with it already. With some plastic covers they can act as a mattress protector too so you should be careful about how and where you cut it as you can use it again. So, if you happen to have more than one mattress or you are moving to a new house then you can simply slip the mattress into the protector cover to avoid it becoming dirty or damaged.

Now you must leave your new mattress alone for a while so that it can inflate up to its regular size. Experts say around a day but for some people that might be hard but do your best to leave it for as long as you can so your bed is up to its perfect level of comfort for the first time you or your partner sleep on it.

Once it has been left for a while then you can get started on making up your new bed. Simply put on your sheets, blankets and pillows and then you can really enjoy your nights sleep on your new memory foam mattress!
