It gives them a much-needed energy boost required for their energetic lifestyles and the nutrients necessary to maintain good health. It can also be an alternative for candy, so you no longer have to worry about synthetic chemicals going in your body. With that in mind, let us get started with the easy recipe for honey roasted almond.

Keep these ingredients ready.

  • ½ cup of Almonds.
  • 1/2 tbsp of sugar. Use brown/demerara sugar if you want a candy-like taste for your almonds.
  • ⅛ tsp of Salt, you can also include other spices to add a kick to the recipe (cinnamon and honey taste great together). To add a bite to this dish, use sea salt flakes instead of table salt.
  • 2 tbsp of water.
  • 1 tsp of oil. Most people use olive oil in this recipe, but any oil will work well. You can use butter as well, but it gives a slightly different flavor.
  • 1.5 – 2 tbsp of honey.

Start by making a salt-sugar mix by combining them. Heat a saucepan over medium heat and add almonds once it is moderately hot. Roast them over low to medium heat for about 15 minutes.

They should be slightly fragrant and browned by the end of it. Add honey, water and oil simultaneously in a separate pan and let it cook. If you prefer a sweeter taste, use butter instead of oil. Once the syrup starts boiling, add the roasted almonds to it. In about 10 minutes, the syrup should completely evaporate, leaving the almonds with a sticky covering on them. Now add the salt-sugar mix and combine them well.

After they are evenly coated, place them on a parchment paper and let them dry completely. The prep-cook time of this recipe is less than 30 minutes, making it an ideal last-minute snack.

Storage.

Remember to store them in an airtight container. It is crucial to ensure that all the almonds are dry during storage because even little moisture can make the almonds soft. Take extra care of this factor during monsoon seasons and days with high humidity. The quality of your almonds also matters here.

For oven users.

You can also make this snack in the oven. Preheat the oven at 200 degrees and bake the almonds (on a parchment paper) in it for eight minutes. Heat all the sugar and honey in a pan. Add some salt to it and then coat your roasted almonds with the solution. At this point, your snack is ready, but you can bake it for another minute if you want the syrup to harden a little.

Remember to use the bottom coil while baking and turn your almonds once after 4 minutes of baking.

If you are a lover of spice, then add cayenne pepper powder to the honey mix too. About 1/4th teaspoon should be enough. There are several other ways of making this snack. However, let us discuss the nutritional value of this snack.
