How to make fitness for the kid’s fun

0

Fitness can often seem like a chore unless; you know how to disguise it as fun! Kids these days are inside too often, watching television or on their iPod or iPhone. According to the experts, kids should be getting at least 1 hour of exercise per day.

Give your kids the best start to live by showing them how fun physical activity can be. Giving them a passion for physical exercise will help them establish healthy living habits. Besides exercising during after school sports you should also be displaying healthy habits at home.

Having family physical activities that you can enjoy together will also give you a stronger family bond. Getting your kids to exercise without them realising can be hard. Here are some tips on how to get you kid’s active and enjoying themselves.

Invest in fun equipment

Investing in the right equipment is an investment in your children’s health and fitness. Give them the right equipment and tools and you’ll be encouraging them to exercise. There are smaller pieces of equipment you can get them like a ball, a Frisbee and a skipping rope. In addition, what kid wouldn’t love a new bike or a trampoline for their birthday? These are gifts that keep on giving and you don’t have to spend a fortune whilst doing it. There are plenty of trampolines for sale at reasonable prices online, so there’s no excuse. A healthy lifestyle is one of the best gifts you could give to your child.

Get outdoors

Agree on a family activity that you can all do together outdoors. Get outdoors and have an adventure by taking the dog for a walk. Playing outside with your pets will not only get them active but make them feel good emotionally. Studies have shown that owning a pet increases our happy hormones. Why not make a day of it? Jump on your bikes, ride to the park and have a picnic.

Go on an active holiday

Why not make your next holiday destination an active one. Go to the beach where you can go swimming or surfing and building sand castles all day. Or to the snow where you can go skiing, snowboarding, and tobogganing. Depending on the size of the mountain, walk back up the mountain instead of taking the lift.

Play with them

This doesn’t mean sending your kids outside to play, play with them! It will be a lot more fun for them and some additional exercise for you as well! Disguising physical activity makes fitness fun for your kids. Have a kick of the footy with them, play hide and seek or hopscotch. They will love you for it.

Be consistent

Kids need consistency in their lives. If one week you let them sit in the house all day and the next week you try to get them outside to play, you may have a hard time convincing them. When kids are in a routine, they know what to expect so when you tell them that it’s time to go for a bike ride they don’t complain. It will be easier for them and you.
