After the birth of my youngest child, I started noticing changes in my body. Changes I was never warned about. Changes that became somewhat embarrassing. The most noticeable was that I couldn’t laugh, sneeze or cough without losing a few drops. Suddenly I found myself wearing mini pads daily
I’ll admit, I was too embarrassed to go to my doctor and so I let it go for years. It was at a time when I was young, and image still took a front seat to me over most things in life. I assumed that whatever was causing the leakage, it would correct itself some day. That day never came. As I aged, I became less concerned with image and embarrassment turned into frustration. Finally, I made and appointment with my OBGYN and wow, was I shocked to find out that the cause of this annoying problem was urinary incontinence, or UI, a condition that is very common, but definitely not normal and I could correct it.
Turns out, the cause of my UI is weakened pelvic floor muscles as a result of childbirth. By strengthening my pelvic floor muscles I could potentially eliminate the constant leakage.
So imagine my relief when I learned about PeriCoach, an FDA cleared, pelvic floor muscle exerciser & smart phone app that women use at home or anywhere, really, to guide them in the right way to perform the exercises that strengthen and tone pelvic floor muscles.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be documenting my progress using the PeriCoach. It’s important that as a woman, I spread the word about UI – a condition that will affect one in three women in their lifetime – and, what I hope will be my positive results of using PeriCoach. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share some amazing and exciting news. One that ends with, “Goodbye pads, thanks to PeriCoach”.
So, follow along as I test this device and share the results with you. If you’re reading this because you too are tired of peeing a little every time you laugh, sneeze or cough, I’m looking forward to helping you address your problem and make it go away!
