Dealing with Infertility? How to Still Have a Baby

5

If you are a couple who are looking to have a baby but you are dealing with infertility, it can feel crushing. Knowing that one or both of you are struggling in the fertility process can be difficult to understand and accept.

However, there are ways that you can still have a baby even if you are dealing with infertility. Below, we’ve put together a list of ways that you can still have a baby even when you have been diagnosed as infertile.

  1. Ask your family for help. You may not think it’s an option, but it really can be. If one of you or both of you are dealing with infertility, you can speak to your nearest and dearest to find out whether or not they would support you through the egg donation process and allow you to have a child that is still biologically related to one of you. Of course, it can sound quite difficult to approach, and it really does depend on how close you are to your family.
  2. Talk about surrogacy. If the issue is that you can’t carry a baby, you can still go through that egg donation process with your own egg and have your surrogate carry your baby for you. This is known as gestational surrogacy. There is also traditional surrogacy where you use the surrogate egg and your partner’s sperm, but egg donation surrogacy can make you feel more involved in the process.
  3. Speak to your local fertility clinic. Talking to the experts about your fertility issues is so important. Knowing that you can speak to somebody and get the answers that you need can really help you to feel like you are making progress somewhere.
  4. Go for the natural methods. If you haven’t been diagnosed with formal infertility and are just told it’s taking some time, then there are natural methods such as yoga and acupuncture that you can use to improve your fertility rate. You can also take a look at the sperm meets egg plan which you can find online, as well as Chinese herbal teas that have been proven to improve sperm count.
  5. Consider fostering. If you can’t have babies yourself, there is also the option of fostering, although this can be a lengthy process. It’s not as lengthy as adoption, but it can give you a taste for whether or not you want to adopt A baby or an older child. There are thousands of children just waiting to find loving homes, and when you are dealing with a crisis of infertility, you already know that you are packed full of love that you’re looking to pass somewhere else.
  6. Take a moment. Before you try any of these options, take a moment to consider what your doctors have told you. Is fertility impossible because of the way you are living your life? If that’s the case, then lifestyle changes such as weight loss can make a difference. Taking a moment to breathe and figuring out some things for yourself can go a long way before you move forward with the process for fertility and having a baby elsewhere.

I really appreciate how you’ve highlighted fostering as an option for couples who might not be able to have biological children. It’s such a beautiful way to give love to children in need. The idea of fostering before making an adoption decision is great for those who want to experience parenting and see if it’s the right fit for them.
