A 14-Piece Capsule Wardrobe For Tweens

If your kids don’t have a uniform for school, you know how quickly you can overbuy, have piles of washing, and just how stressful getting ready can be. Tweens can try on seven outfits in 3 minutes and leave the rest for the washing pile. 

However! If you are sick of the too-much, not enough issue and want to end the piles of washing, it’s time to try a 14-piece capsule wardrobe for tween girls. This is only suitable for spring or early fall.

Color palette 

The first thing you’ll want to do is to choose a color palette. It’s better if you do this with your child, though – it also makes it more fun. Ideally, about five colors, something neutral like black, navy, or tan; white is a great addition, then three brighter colors. 

Play around with different color combinations until you create something that you both really love. 

Options

The brighter colors are better used for t-shirts, while the darker ones are ideal for trousers and any jackets. It means that any stains gained from playing and regular use won’t show up so much. This will help the wardrobe last for longer too. 

What you’ll need

You can probably get almost everything you need from one store – which can make the whole thing a lot easier – not to mention they can probably be thrifted too if you want to. Aim to go for higher quality materials where you can afford to because they will last longer; we all know that kids are hard on their clothing!

Why use a capsule wardrobe?

We are overwhelmed with decisions and need to make hundreds every day; there is nothing worse than needing to add more decisions that need to happen first thing in the morning. A capsule wardrobe means that you or your child can grab any of these items, and they will go together. The color palette ensures that your tween clothing all matches – no fuss! 

Once you have mastered your child’s wardrobe, it might be time to move on and master your own capsule wardrobe. When you have a select set of clothing and don’t add more to it until absolutely necessary, you only have things you love and wear – and save a lot of money too! Instead of going with trends, you can work with classic lines and shapes – so that no matter what year it is, these will always work! 

Seasonal additions

As it gets colder, it is a good idea to swap out the sandals for some lined winter boots and add some extra warm layers or thicker options to the t-shirts. 

Incidentals like gloves, hats, tights, and so on aren’t counted in the number of items, though – because we all know you can never have enough socks!
