4 Tips For Making Your Wedding Kid-Friendly

2

There’s just something about having kids at weddings that make the event extra fun. They add a certain level of charm and just enough spontaneity to an event that is unlike kidless events.  However, it’s important that you make your wedding kid-friendly if you hope for it to be a success.  With little ones around, you never know what can happen — it’s not uncommon for them to get restless or even get into trouble (gasp!)

In order to make sure that the children and grownups have a great time at your wedding, take a look at some of the best tips for a kid-friendly occasion.

Make Sure You Specify it on Your Invites

It’s standard to announce on your wedding invitations whether your wedding is kid-friendly or not. Not everyone loves children present at their wedding, so it may not always be assumed that kids are invited. It’s important to let your guests know if they can bring their kids to your wedding so they can buy a suit and start making arrangements for childcare if they attend. In some cases, you may want kids over only a certain age to come to your wedding, which should be clearly spelled out to your guests ahead of time.

Give Kids a Designated Area

In order for kids to steer clear of trouble, they should be allowed to have fun in their own space. A play area is a great way to ensure that kids don’t get restless in the middle of such a formal occasion. A lot of reception venues may have a kid’s room designated specifically for little ones’ activities. However, in the absence of one, you can simply set aside an area with a table and chairs and activities for them to take part in.

Consider Kids Menus

Not all kids eat the same as adults do. It’s a good idea to consider a kid’s menu with kid-friendly options like nuggets, or pasta. Kids can often be picky when it comes to their eating habits, so try to include as many foolproof and kid-approved menu options as possible. Parents of fussy eaters will thank you for it later.

Consider Hiring a Pro

It helps to have a designated child care assistant at your wedding if you have a lot of kids who are under the age of six. That way, you can focus on enjoying your wedding and so can your guests without having to worry about the well-being of their kids. Kids are known for misbehaving and getting into trouble, so try to go with the flow as much as possible. The most important thing is that you have fun and you enjoy your big day with the person you’re planning on spending the rest of your life with!
