As an avid “DIYer”, I have always loved discovering new hobbies. I started much of my adult crafting with scrapbooking in high school (just threw those out – ouch!!) but I never really ventured into cardmaking or stamping.

Until recently.

Paper Pumpkin – Stampin’ Up’s subscription box – offers great projects for someone like me who loves discovering new hobbies. Each of their boxes contain everything you need to create unique cards. Each box comes with plenty of supplies to make a few cards (usually 8-10), including precut papers, shapes, card stock, and in some cases stickers.

Each box also comes with a small selection of stamps, and the ink color(s) you need for the project. So, once I’m done making my cards, I place those stamps and pads with the rest of my newly developing collection of stamping supplies.

“Paper Pumpkin by Stampin’ Up! We’re your paper fairy godmother(without the white hair). We’re your creativity problem-solvers. We design, color, measure, cut it all for you. We’ve been sweeping away the mundane for 25 years. And, we want to share it all with you. Need paper, ink, accessories? Or just a few fun products?”

Each monthly box comes with more stamps than what the project calls for. So, you can mix and match the messages to create the cards YOU need.

I made a pretty card for my cousin’s fourth birthday party this Sunday. That package also came with die-cut boxes, so I’ll be adding a piece of jewelry to her gift. I also made two “get well” cards for two cousins who were just diagnosed with breast cancer:

I am falling in love with card making! Handmade cards are such a special way to connect with people, whether it’s celebrating the special moments in life, or sticking with them through the hard times.

Each of the Paper Pumpkin kits I experienced was not on on-trend. It was also unique and fun. It had some open-ended aspect to it so that I could create my own ideas. And it was totally do-able and fail-proof.

Trying out new hobbies gives me new experiences, and the chance to try something fresh. Stamping with Paper Pumpkin has made me fall in love with card making – a hobby I hope to continue for years to come!
