5 Outdoor Toys Your Child Needs This Summer

0

With summer just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to keep your kids occupied during their vacation from school.

Outdoor toys provide hours of fun for both kids and adults alike (you’re never too old for a bubble sword, trust us). They also help kids be more physically active, which can reduce their risk of obesity.

Before you go and buy toys that will gather dust, here are five outdoor favorites that we’ve found work especially well.

1. Soccer Goals

Children love kicking a ball around and you can encourage them to practice their soccer skills with soccer goals.

Soccer goals are perfect for family games and can be used by kids of all ages. You can get as elaborate as you want with it, but getting one is pretty straightforward.

Once you’ve picked out the right goal for your yard, set it up in an area where it won’t easily tip over or hurt someone running.

Finally, set aside some time to play soccer with your children using their new goalposts!

2. Basketball Hoop

Do your kids love basketball? A portable hoop is the perfect choice for them.

There are many options available, depending on the age and skill level of your child, from toddler hoops to official rim height.

It’s important to consider the space you have for a hoop before purchasing one—if this is going to be used in your driveway, make sure you won’t hit any cars when shooting three-pointers!

3. Swing Set

A swing set is an ideal solution for both kids and parents alike: the kids get exercise outdoors, while the adults get some peace indoors.

Parents can feel good about allowing their children outside to play on the swing set because it encourages healthy habits like physical activity at an early age.

Plus, it’s fun! As far as toys for children go, you really can’t go wrong with a swing set!

4. ATVs

If you have a child who likes to play outdoors, an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) is an excellent choice. Kids four wheelers are fun and exciting vehicles that let your child experience the thrill of riding in style.

All-terrain vehicles are designed for off-roading, so they’re perfect if you have a large backyard or live near woods or fields. They’ll be able to navigate terrain like hills and dirt with ease and get around quickly without worrying about getting stuck on branches or rocks.

5. Teepee tent

We all have fond memories of playing in tents as kids. They’re a magical space for imagination, where kids can play house or the next big adventure. The teepee tent is the perfect addition to your child’s summertime fun.

Teepees are a great place for children to retreat if they want some alone time or just want to escape the hot sun and read a book. Once they’re done playing with it, you can take down the tent and store it until next time.

Try These Outdoor Toys and Prepare for a Great Summer

Getting your kids away from the TV and computer or out of their room is no easy feat. Likewise, keeping them busy during the summer months can be just as challenging as getting them to eat their vegetables.

But with a few outdoor toys, you can breathe a sigh of relief: we promise these are some of the best toys to keep your kids entertained for hours.
