Why BBT Dip before Ovulation

How does your basal body temperature change after ovulation?

This temperature is normally taken in the morning and importantly after getting up to four hours of sleep/rest. It is also taken before a physical activity.

You must take the BBT at the same time daily, and then record each result obtained on a BBT chart. Even if you have an irregular cycle, you can use this chart in predicting your next ovulation.

However, it also fluctuates due to heat, cold, food intake and stress.  When such external factors intervene, it can be impossible to take an accurate temperature.

When does your basal body temperature drop if you’re not pregnant? If you’re not pregnant, your temperature should drop between 10 and 14 days following an ovulation just about the time your next menstruation will start.
