What to Prepare When Making a Belgian Waffle?

Have you tried buying some snacks or food, wondering how they made those delicious foods, or thinking of something you could add to the recipe to create something new and exciting? Even when we are little, we want to try all the foods that are sold in the streets or restaurants, especially if we can see that all the people are willing to wait to taste that certain food. If you are a mom or even a dad, all you’ve ever wanted is to make your children happy by filling their stomachs with homemade, delicious foods. Aside from improvising your menu, rest assured that you made it clean and safe. As parents, there is nothing that may provide us greater joy than watching our kids eat and feel fulfilled afterward.

What Is Belgian Waffle?

Derived from Belgium, waffles are similar to pancakes in that they both use the same ingredients. Although, the big difference is the cooking method. You will use a waffle maker iron for waffles, and you can use a pan for pancakes. This Belgian Waffle is similar to other waffles; the only difference is the pocket carved by the waffle iron maker. Traditionally it was made of yeast, but in today’s generation, we use baking powder to keep the waffle light.

The Benefits Of Healthy Eating

Eating tasty and healthy homemade recipes for waffles can make them stronger and more nutritious. In making your homemade Belgian waffle, you need to stick to the main ingredients, and by that, you can add your extra flavor with fruit on top or partner it with a healthy smoothie.

If you think being healthy means avoiding all your favorite fast foods, you are being too harsh on yourself. You can still eat those favorites of yours, but not too much. Since the more you are going to deprive yourself of that certain food, there is a big percentage that you are going to crave it. And this waffle is a good substitute for all of your cravings.

What To Prepare?

Want to get your own freshly made Belgian waffle recipe for one or your whole family? Then this is your moment to fulfill your cravings and be satisfied with what you eat.

¾ Teaspoon of baking powder

A pinch of salt

1 Tablespoon of granulated sugar.

5 Tablespoons of milk

⅓ of beaten egg

1 Tablespoon of melted butter

½ Teaspoon of vanilla extract

A Sliced fruit (strawberries, apple, blueberries)

  1. Preheat your waffle iron, spray it with non-stick cooking spray, and set it aside.
  2. Whisk together the dry ingredients; all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites with a hand mixer until stiff peaks form, and set aside.
  4. Mix the wet ingredients; milk, egg yolk, melted butter, and vanilla extract in another separate bowl. Do not over-mix it!
  5. Add the wet and dry ingredients and then mix them well.
  6. Add the beaten egg white and gradually fold it in.
  7. Pour the batter into your waffle iron and cook it according to the manual’s directions.
  8. And lastly, serve it! You can have it with fresh fruit on top, like berries or sliced apple.

Reheating Belgian Waffles

If you had leftover Belgian waffles from yesterday and you still want to achieve the crispiness that they had yesterday, be sure that you refrigerate the waffle, or you can freeze them in a freezer. To keep it crisp, reheat it in the oven instead of in the microwave at 250 degrees for 10 minutes, and with that, you can enjoy your Belgian waffles with their crispiness.

To Sum Up

Eating healthy foods is all about balance and control. Eating what you love and crave but with health benefits. Aside from your enjoyment, you also serve healthy food to your kids. Always remember that health is wealth!
