What Makes A Montessori Education Unique

3

Montessori schools are unique because they are child-centric, with the children’s development and learning being of utmost priority.

Furthermore, the education offered in the schools has balanced attention in meeting a child’s physical, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional development. The primary goal of Montessori schools is to aid each child in reaching their full potential in all aspects of their life.

However, what makes Montessori education unique? Here are a few elements to help you understand the Montessori education system.

Whole Child Education

Montessori education seeks to provide a child with a holistic education that taps into their growth and development aspects. Unlike the other form of education that focuses on how a child remembers details through regular tests, Montessori education is all about tapping into the child’s curiosity and learning in different ways.

For instance, a Montessori teacher can organize a class session at the school garden, allowing the children to interact with the tangible items. By moving around the school garden, the children can learn by incorporating all their senses. Such activities help provide the children with experiences to create their knowledge.

Learning Independence

A critical component of Montessori education is that it takes a non-restrictive form, one where the students have the freedom to undertake their learning independently. Freedom of choice is an integral part of children’s education.

Typically, a Montessori teacher will set the necessary parameters to guide the children. They will oversee the parameters to ensure the freedom of choice is exercised to promote each child’s learning process.

The freedom allows the children to thrive on independence and make discoveries about themselves and their environment. Making these discoveries is what makes them learn with pleasure and have excellent retention capacity.

Interactive Class Environment

The classroom environment in Montessori Schools allows for openness, group interactions, and educational development. What is more, the classrooms are well ordered with items arranged to aid the children’s learning process.

The sitting arrangement allows the children to interact with each other, thus promoting a social atmosphere and peer-to-peer learning. The learning materials are placed on accessible shelves and arranged orderly, making it easy for the students to access by themselves. The constant movement around the class helps fasten your child’s physical development.

Montessori Materials

Learning in Montessori schools is not restricted to books. Rather, it also encompasses playful learning. When they are young, children have a low attention span and this is where the Montessori Method ensures they remain focused.

In that regard, Montessori schools have integrated learning materials such as puzzle maps, moveable alphabets, puzzles, checkerboards, binomial cubes, beads, classification cards, and unique hands-on tasks making learning fun and interactive.

Such materials allow your child to observe, interact, explore, and internalize the different items at a physical helping them learn abstract ideas based on sensorial, culture, language, mathematics, and practical life.

Can be practiced at Home

One unique aspect of Montessori Education that tops the list is that it can be replicated at home. The Montessori method strives to create a child-centric experience, something that parents can implement at home.

Some of the key elements to incorporate include shelves, appropriate toys, different learning materials, adequate space, and freedom for your child to undertake his or her learning process independently. If your child is in Montessori school, you can implement a home-based Montessori setup to serve as a continuity link with the school environment. By doing so, you help boost their development and learning capabilities.

Hello. Very informative article. It was interesting to me to read that there is such a unique type of teaching for schoolchildren. I really liked that classroom learning implies openness, freedom of communication and interactivity. But it would be nice if in such classes there was the possibility of online learning and use in teaching personal statements writing services. I think that in connection with the pandemic, this is very important. But in general, I think that such a learning system has a positive effect on the development of the child.

Congratulations to all winners! I recently won the best non-fiction contest in college. I have a lot of fun because I am a very weak essayist. But thanks to the EssayMama, everything went well and she wrote everything well on every topic.

Whenever I need someone to write my essay for me, I immediately go to this site. I think it is the best. Here I can easily choose the work that I need and the time to complete it. I always order the work in advance as it comes out a lot cheaper. After which I continue to calmly go about my business.
