M.I. Hummel is a company that has been making beautiful figurines for decades, yet they continue to produce new, gorgeous figurines that are perfect for anyone to collect and enjoy. My kids thought it was so cool that the founder, Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, was an artist and taught children even after becoming a nun. I love the handmade quality of the Hummel figurines – each piece sculpted by a master sculptor, carefully molded, and hand painted. It’s rare to have such high-quality art pieces in our disposable society so I love that about Hummel.
For example, in my figurine Hurry Along, the details are brilliant – a little boy preparing for his holiday shopping with his furry friend and well-lit street lamp.
Hummel is known for their beautiful tradition of figurines. Their Annual Angel Series features a new addition to holiday angels each year with various themes and designs to be celebrated and shared. This year’s angel is called Angel of Faith and is the first of three in a mini-series featuring the Three Divine Virtues. These angels are unique Hummel figurines as they feature gold-dipped wings. The next two years will feature Hope and Love making this the perfect time to begin your own Hummel angel collection!
M.I. Hummel figurines have been collected for decades because of the wide variety of charming designs and themes, and the often uplifting moments they capture. From their charming classic figurines which highlight many seasonal moments and fun Bavarian country icons to one of my favorite categories, Hummel children with adorable animal friends. Musical and Occupation figurines are popular as gifts, especially since they can be personalized free of charge to create truly one-of-a-kind collectibles. Hummel even uses some of their designs for charitable causes, most notably the Hope Series which has raised over $108,500 for breast cancer since the series began in 2006.
In addition to the incredible figurines Hummel is known for, they also have some other products that feature angel motifs. These include candles, napkins, tin postcards, water globes, and the 2018 Hummel calendar.
