I know that I have had moments where I have been uncomfortable and feel like someone is following me. I HATE those moments where safety is a concern. When you have kids, the anxiety is only worse on a regular basis. Are they safe walking home after school? From practice? At that party I let them go to? Well, I recently stumbled upon Shadow, and think this new gadget is a pretty cool, affordable solution for those distressful moments.
The Shadow is a Bluetooth enabled panic button that works through a smartphone app to provide instant emergency notifications to your personalized network with the press of a button. It’s a pretty easy concept – you push a button on this tiny device (it’s the size of a key fob … and looks like one too) and it sends a text with a custom message to people you select and includes your location. Nifty, right? This is a genius idea for the little monsters running around in my house, but is also a good idea for us moms to have if we ever feel like trouble might be lying ahead.
Here’s a few things I really like about Shadow:
• Shadow has two levels of severity, allowing you to appropriately notify your level of distress with low or high urgency.
• It’s spring loaded cover prevents accidental notifications and there is a way to deactivate the alert if accidentally pressed.
• You can customize the alert messages and the contact lists.
• Shadow has multiple color options.
• There are no subscriptions or monthly fees!
• It’s only $25.00!
Shadow is crowdfunding on Indiegogo right now and will be coming out the fall of this year. But if you pre-order now, you can get it for just $25 (will be $35 in retail).
They are also partnering with charitable partners like Ella Mae Foundation (founded by Beverly Gooden), RAINN, and YWCA Evanston, to donate the proceeds and Shadows to protect victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
