When it comes to a beauty regimen I will be the first to admit I probably didn’t take care of my face and skin in my younger years. Now that I am older I am actually trying to follow my 20-year-old daughter’s lead when she is home from college. She is great at taking care of her skin, and although odd, I am learning from my daughter.
Most of the ideas are DIY that can be done right at home. Below I am sharing some of them with you.
DIY Home Beauty
Eyes
For my puffy eyes, I have been using green tea from tea bags that you can purchase right from the grocery store. I make up the green tea and keep it in the fridge. I purchased the cotton rounds, soak them in the tea and put one on each eye. The antioxidants help reduce the puffiness and the caffeine helps shrink the blood vessels.
Pimples
Ohh the dreaded word: Pimples! I am not sure about you but even at 47 years old I still get pimples. Not terribly so that is probably why I despise them. Plus I always thought they no longer came around when you were out of your teens. Anyways I have found that toothpaste works wonders. It not only takes the redness out, it also takes the soreness away. You want to make sure that you test a small part of your skin as I know some it is too strong for their skin. I use a white paste and not cinnamon flavored. I put this on before I go to bed, just a small dab and make sure it covers the area. It dries up and if it is still there (the toothpaste) I clean it off in the shower the next morning. It is the clay and the mint that help dry up and clear the pimple inside of the toothpaste.
Those Lips
My last one is one my daughter taught me and I love it. Especially during winter my lips can get chapped and not as soft or even in the summer with the sun. My daughter told me about 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 tsp raw cacao powder, and 1 tablespoon raw honey. Mix it up and spread a thin layer on your lips, let it stay on for 10 minutes then scrub it away! You will love how your lips feel afterward.
