Astrology, Zodiac Signs, and Horoscopes: Debunking 5 Common Myths

1

As you’re only too aware, not everything you read on the Internet is true. In fact, a great deal of what you read is downright false.

Unfortunately, when it comes to topics like astrology, zodiac signs, and horoscopes, this isn’t immediately apparent to the average person.

Five Myths You Shouldn’t Accept

Astrology is a somewhat mystical topic that many individuals today aren’t knowledgeable about. Lots of misconceptions about horoscopes and zodiac signs float around us.

You don’t have to do much research to find guides that explain the characteristics of each zodiac sign and what they mean. . To set the record straight on some common fallacies that are circulated widely on the Web and social media, let’s debunk five heavily perpetuated ones.

  1. Horoscopes Tell the Future

One of the biggest mistaken beliefs is that horoscopes predict the future, and can tell us what’s going to happen over the next 24 hours, but this simply isn’t the case. Your horoscope isn’t a prediction of what’s going to happen, so much as it’s an explanation of the planetary positions at any given moment and how this could influence your outlook and opportunities.

A horoscope uses essential information about you — such as your date, place, and time of birth — to explain what this could mean for you. By being aware of these factors, you will be able to put yourself in a better position to embrace the world and the events of the day.

  1. Horoscopes Take a Long Time to Read

Another common misconception is that it takes a long time to read a horoscope. People assume that in order to extract relevant meaning and value from a horoscope, you have to study it from various angles and possibly compare it to different charts, books, and expert readings.

Again, this is false. You could invest a lot of time in meditating on your horoscope if that appeals to you, but you may also read it on the go.

Take this daily Leo horoscope from Astrology Answers. You can read it in just a minute or so. And if you prefer, you could have it emailed to your inbox so you may read it on the bus or during a break.

  1. Astrology is All About Horoscopes

The average person is probably most familiar with astrology through a horoscope column in the local newspaper or a favorite blog, but this is only one facet of it.

It’s a common assumption that astrology consists of nothing but horoscopes. The truth is, that’s just one element that happens to excite people the most. There are plenty of other practices that astrologers find more interesting and meaningful, though.

  1. We Have the Same Zodiac Sign, So We’re the Same

You don’t have to do much research to find guides that explain the characteristics of each zodiac sign and what they mean. And though the people born under a given sign might share some similarities, that doesn’t mean you’re the same as every other person with your sign.

Do you understand the difference? Even identical twins who share the same birth date, birthplace, and time of birth will be different in crucial ways.

That’s because each of us has a unique mixture of DNA and been exposed to different external stimuli over the course of our lives. So you should keep that in mind and not fall for the notion that millions of people who are just like you walk the planet.

  1. Astrology is About Magic or Paranormal Activity

People who choose not to get involved in astrology may write it off as something “magical” or “paranormal.” But it isn’t a crazy mystical practice that features ghosts, demons, and potions.

In its most basic form, astrology is simply an explanation for how the alignment of the planets, stars, and other celestial bodies coincide with what occurs here on earth.

Unlock the Power of Your Zodiac Sign

Every person has a zodiac sign. Your sign is what you make of it.

If you take the time to learn the basics of astrology and how the various stars and planets navigate around us, you’ll come to the realization that you are a small yet vital being in a vast arena of opportunities. Embrace astrology in your own personal way and you’ll discover it can be far more useful than you knew.
