A Shopper’s Paradise: Smart Strategies for Buying Lingerie Online

0

The Internet can be a lingerie shopper’s paradise–if you know where and how to shop. There’s more to buying lingerie than picking out a pretty color. It’s imperative that you know your sizes, but sizing can be tricky, especially when you’re not there to try on lovely undergarments.

We believe that every woman deserves to wear perfectly fitting bras, slips, nighties and panties that make her feel as wonderful as she looks. In the interest of serving our female readers, we are pleased to present these smart strategies for buying lingerie online:

Know where to shop

Everyone’s heard of Victoria’s Secret, but VS is certainly not the only online retailer who sells exquisite lingerie. Journelle may be lesser known, but they offer a sweet selection of French knickers and women’s undergarments. Zivame of India is another online lingerie retailer that sells a splendid assortment of delicate underthings. They occasionally offer price-saving Zivame coupons, too. Fuller figured girls find plenty of pretty plus size options at online shops such as FullBeauty and SpicyLingerie.

Know when to shop

Don’t be in a hurry to buy lingerie online. Visit several websites, and ask to be added to their mailing list. Stay apprised of seasonal sales and spur of the moment deals. Lacy lingerie can be pricey, but you may be able to save significant dollars when you are an opt-in member.

Some lingerie shops offer after-holiday sales that mean big savings to your pocketbook. Time your shopping right, and you could wind up saving a wheelbarrow full of cash.

Collect coupon codes and use them

Most ladies lingerie shops periodically publish money-saving coupon codes that can be used when you check out. When you come across a coupon code, note the expiration date, if any, and be sure to use the coupon while it’s still valid. Buy-one-get-one-free sales can double your purchasing power.

Double check sizing

You may wear a 36 C cup bra, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that every lingerie store’s 36 C is right for you. Before you make your purchase, read customer reviews to see if anyone mentions sizing disparities. Most online shops offer a size guide that describes sizes in inches and millimeters. Measure yourself, then compare the numbers with each retailer’s sizing charts. Many online shops will not take returns on intimate items, so it’s very important to buy the right size.

Just FYI

Elle Magazine recently published a brief history of ladies lingerie that is both tantalizing and informative. In the 1700s, women wore uncomfortable corsets stiffened with whale bone. Designed to force a woman’s form into a shape then considered seductive, old school corsets left much to be desired, as far as comfort was concerned.

A mere century ago, ladies underthings were utilitarian garments that were meant to be worn, not seen. My, how things have changed. In the 21st  century, women’s lingerie is both fanciful and fabulous. People are more open about the whole idea of underwear, too. The lingerie collection at New York’s prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art is sure proof of that happy fact.
