Kitchen Design for a Single Working Person

1

When you live by yourself, you need less space than you would need if you lived with one or more people. That being said, you might be planning to remodel your kitchen to make it appropriate for a single person, but you might not know which design would work best for you.

Well, if you’re a working person, we have some tips for you on how to design your kitchen so you enjoy a more suitable environment. Let’s get started!

  • Add a Floating Table

Why would you need a typical, big table since you’re not really having family dinners or anything of the sort? Especially if you don’t have friends over that often, you can save some space and add a smaller table suitable for you while you’re cooking, working or eating.

A floating table would be amazing, as you can always remove it when not in use and create more space for yourself. Not to mention that it’s also great to use when you’re working on your laptop and want to have a coffee in the kitchen at the same time.

So, if you have a kitchen that is L-shaped and you have a blank wall, consider installing a floating table or shelf. It also works when you have a narrow space because you can remove it and make more room when necessary.

  • Get Rid of Some Kitchen Stuff

You don’t really need an entire collection of bowls or mugs if you’re living by yourself, so why clutter your kitchen with them? Instead of taking unnecessary space, you should get rid of some kitchen stuff – you’ll be surprised how much space you can save this way.

It’s a great option for single working people as you’ll have more space to move around and less stuff that you could bump into and potentially break. Furthermore, you will have less work to do considering you will not end up filling up your sink with dirty dishes. You’ll also save more time this way.

  • Add Wallpaper

It’s your kitchen, so you don’t have to worry about anyone else not liking your design ideas or wanting to pick different colors. That being said, why not play around with some wallpaper? Even if your house has a smaller kitchen, you should still have some wall space available where you could add a nice wallpaper.

Pick something that you love and that fits the look of the kitchen at the same time. It will instantly improve the design of the kitchen and will also make you feel more relaxed and at peace when you cook, work, or just enjoy a nice meal or coffee.

  • Add Windows

If you want to add some more light and space in your kitchen, then consider adding in as many windows as possible. This will make it feel larger and less claustrophobic. Make sure you also make use of the space in front of the windows, adding some nice cabinets or even a table. Mornings alone by yourself will feel amazing with a coffee in front of the windows as you’re getting ready for work.

  • Consider a One-Wall Kitchen

A one-wall kitchen would make everything much easier to access, and you won’t be running from a corner to another when getting food, cooking, or washing the dishes. Basically, it is just what the name suggests – a kitchen that only makes use of one wall. Here, you can add your fridge, shaker kitchen cabinets, sink, and everything else in one line.

It will leave more room in the kitchen while taking away room from the countertop, which is just enough for someone who lives alone.

  • Add Open Shelves

You don’t necessarily need kitchen counters. Open shelves will help put everything within an arm’s reach, and you will always know where to find something you’re looking for. Besides, they are perfect for people who don’t live with others and don’t have too many kitchen utensils because the space will not be cluttered.

Final Thoughts

As a single working person, you need to make sure your kitchen is just right for you. Use some of the tips above and you will have a kitchen where you can feel relaxed while cooking, eating, or just enjoying a cup of coffee/tea.
