Europe is a continent with over an area of 10 million kilometres. There are hundreds of thousands of roads all across Europe, some of them are fantastic but some, some are just plain scary. Here’s a little insight into some of the scariest roads in Europe and the reason they gained this status.
Pasubio – Italy
An ancient Italian road converted to also have walkers, hikers and bikers to travel a long, the splendid views attract many. However that’s not why it’s in my list of scariest roads in Europe, this route has hair raising cliff edges with no barriers and long scary tunnels attracting young speed crazed drivers to add to the danger of the road.
Grimsel Pass – Switzerland
Seen as the one of the worlds most insane roads there are massive long stretched of roads fit for racing drivers, however this is quite scary as there as also some of the sharpest turns going. So if you’re going to go crazy on this road, you better be as good as Jenson Button at handling the corners.
Trollstigen road – Norway
This extremely narrow road is scary enough without the added freight of a rock fall. This road is deemed majorly dangerous as there are frequent rock avalanches onto the already very slim road, so you can imagine what happens when it comes to the rocks falling onto the road, there’s not much space left for you.
A682 – England
This road is on junction 13 of the M65 and long Preston, deemed the most dangerous road in England it’s claimed to have over 100 fatalities in the last 10 years with a variety of different collision types it’s just an all-round danger in every sense of driving.
A726 – Scotland
This road is deemed as the most dangerous road in Scotland with 40 fatal collisions in the past 8 years it comes as no surprise it’s made the list. The stretch of road is only 4 miles long but the cause of several collisions, when I said it was Scotland’s most dangerous road it has been officially named by the Road Safety Foundation European Road Assessment Programme as “Scotland’s most dangerous road”.
