Kids have a high level of energy. With that, if you are stuck at home with them, then you can tell that it is a guaranteed-fire recipe for disaster. Meanwhile, if you would like them to remain indoors, an outlet for all that energy is required. That means you will need to be creative and bring up activities for them at home, with games that will keep them engaged and have them expend some energy.

There are several fun activities for kids at home that will occupy them all through the day. The conduction of activities will also add to their learning experiences for improved academic performance.

However, it is essential to come up with the right activities based on your child’s interests and needs. Without that, you may find it difficult to engage or give personalized guidance to the kids. Find out, in this article, amazing activities your kids can engage in at home that will keep them moving.

Cave Building

There is hardly a child between 1 and 10 years of age who does not enjoy building and playing in caves or dens. The imaginations of children usually go wild with this activity. From planning the build to playing inside of it, each of the steps is a total pleasure.

They start thinking about what to use to make their den and whether they can gather the materials themselves or not. With that, they tend to get inspired to bring up exciting role play or enjoy a change of scene.

The most convenient way you can build a stable den in your home is by using a bed sheet or blanket and covering a table or any other furniture moved together. You can then create a spacious den using four chairs arranged in a square, with the blanket positioned over the backrests. Additionally, you can include a few cushions in the cave so your kids can have an amazing time.

Drawings

This fun activity can be achieved by sticking a load of A4 sheets of paper together or even a big paper roll, and then placing it on the floor. Then you can encourage the kids to lie on it and outline their body with either a pencil or pen. From there, you cannot stop the kids from getting creative by coloring pages and adding accessories to the figures, such as stickers. You can find various different type of coloring pages for coloring online at colorconfetti.com

You will be shocked as to how much fun they will have by doing that. You may even decorate their bedroom wall afterward with whatever they are able to come up with.

Balloon Juggling

This game will make your kids exercise and give them long hours of entertainment. There are only two rules to give them which are: the balloon not touching the ground and not making it burst. So, you only need to blow up the balloon and throw it up in the air. Afterward, all you need to do is watch the kids run around trying to make the balloon remain in the air.

In order to make it more challenging, you can ask them to juggle the balloon with one hand glued to the back. You can even get them to juggle more than one balloon simultaneously. This activity is fun and is a good way to make your kids exercise. Besides, it will help build their hand-eye coordination and arm strength.

A Treasure Hunt

This can be achieved by drawing out a map of your house and hiding small items around it. After that, mark every piece of hidden treasure on the map. Then you can explain the map to the kids and give your support towards the hunting game if need be.

If you have older kids, you could use word cards describing a place where an item has been hidden. For instance “I am cold and make a “Bing bong” sound if left open”. The answer is certainly the fridge. An emergency escape hatch wouldn’t be a bad idea either. Children love the combination of a hint and quiz. Interestingly, as an adult, it won’t be hard to get in on the fun as well.

In addition, when they find all the treasure, you can get them to organize their hunt by making them draw out their map and come up with cryptic questions to send you on a great search in return.

Home Gym

If you need a kind of activity where your children can release some energy, you can change your living room into a kid’s gym and come up with some exciting and age-appropriate sports stations. You can place a trail of paper sheets on the ground which the kids will have to walk over while ensuring they do not touch anything else besides the paper.

For older kids, time jumping on the spot can be made more difficult, which may include having to spin around while jumping.

A planking station is also interesting. If you can get a soft carpet or mattress, you can try out some somersaults with them, particularly if they are old enough. However, watch out so they do not hurt their necks. Bear in mind that any form of gymnastic exercise that can be carried out only with their body weight is beautiful.

If you wish to make it more competitive, you can adopt the method of using a stopwatch to time the duration of every exercise. However, you have to stick to age-appropriate durations. It is all about the fun and changing back and forth between the stations, as against aiming for the next world record.
