In most cases, it won’t even pass an insurance check. However, there are some telltale early signs that your property has structural issues. For instance, you might find that the doors are stiff or that the floors or uneven. If you encounter an issue like this with a home you’re viewing it’s probably best to cut your losses. Even if you’re planning to invest in a fixer upper, it’s still likely to be a lot more trouble than it’s worth.

Have you ever struggled with pests in a property? It can be an absolute nightmare. Even pests that are relatively harmless are often incredibly difficult to get rid of. Next, you should think about the neighbours around the home. It’s all too easy to become fixated on the four walls and roof but let’s be honest, if the neighbours are a nightmare then you’re going to hate living there. That’s the honest truth. The best way to deal with this is by making sure that you do talk the neighbours before you decide to purchase the home if you can. That way, you can make sure that you get on well enough. You don’t need life long friends here but you do need someone who is going to keep things as amicable as possible. 

Damp

Finally, you should make sure that you are checking any house that you are considering purchasing for signs of damp. Damp is a major problem because it can lead to fortunes in property damage. The worst part is that it will also usually cause other problems including some of the issues we have already mentioned such as damage to the structure of the house and pests. The clearest sign of damp will be dark patches and marks in certain areas of the home like the ceiling. It’s worth noting that property owners will do what they can to hide this. Particularly, if they can’t afford to complete the repairs themselves.
