New Book “Our Food Grows” Invites Young Readers to Cultivate Curiosity About Food Origins and Inspires Young Gardeners

2

As spring arrives and gardens begin to bloom, there’s no better time for children to learn about how their favorite foods grow. Our Food Grows by Sarah M. White (The Collective Book Studio/April 1, 2025) is a beautifully illustrated children’s book that takes young readers on a journey from seed to table. Perfect for ages 0–6, this engaging book introduces kids to the origins of fruits, vegetables, and grains—helping them connect with nature and develop a love for fresh, healthy foods.

With vibrant collage-style artwork by Tessa Gibbs, and simple, engaging language, Our Food Grows walks children through the fascinating process of how strawberries, tomatoes, asparagus, corn, and more grow from the earth to become part of their meals.

Designed as both a story and an educational tool, this book encourages mealtime discussions about food origins, gardening, and nutrition.

“When kids can see where food comes from—whether in a garden, at a farmers’ market, or even on a book’s pages—it makes eating fresh, healthy food an exciting adventure,” says author Sarah M. White. “We want to inspire children to explore, ask questions, and enjoy the process of growing and eating real food.”

As we begin planting spring gardens, this book provides the perfect way to spark curiosity and encourage little ones to get their hands in the soil.

Perfect for budding gardeners, curious minds, and families looking to explore the wonders of spring planting, Our Food Grows makes learning about food fun, interactive, and inspiring.
