Up Close and Personal-Winter Farming

0

It’s been a crazy winter here. We’ve already received over 40″ of snow and it’s snowing again today. Unfortunately, farming never stops for Mother Nature. This batch of pigs are seeing snow for the first time. They’re not sure what to do. But, they finally came out of the barn when I enter the pen and began to explore. And tried munching on my boots.

While hubby and I are taken care of the farm, our Amish neighbors are doing laundry!

And some of them want to know if the snow will ever end!

Almost everywhere you look around here you’ll find a windmill. Even our internet is powered by a windmill.

And then here I am dreaming of spring and gardening.

Living life in the country hasn’t always been my thing. I’m a city girl, born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. When I was a kid, even a young adult I used to think I was born into the wrong family. I always thought I should have been born into a country family. That is, until I moved to the country. I nearly went stir crazy my first two-years out in the middle of all these cornfields. And then, one day I woke up and I felt at home. It’s crazy how our priorities change as we grow. I can’t image living my life any other way! However, there are times when I’m envious of those that live in NYC, Chicago and LA!

I hope you enjoyed this little look into my life. I’ll be doing an entire serious on Up Close And Personal this year. Let me know if there’s anything you’d really like to see or know about me, Amish life, Country Living, Farming, Cooking, and the like. I’ll do my best to answer all your questions.
