Bellafill Patient Success Story

Since we just celebrated Mother’s Day , many of us have be reflecting on your days of being pregnant or those very special days back when your little one was a newborn. For me, there’s no doubt that motherhood is one of the most rewarding, challenging and loving experiences of my life. So, today I thought I’d share with you a rather unique part of my pregnancy and motherhood journey and it has to do with acne—yes, acne!

My struggle with acne didn’t begin as a hormonal teenager or even a stressed out student. It actually wasn’t until I entered the beautiful world of motherhood that my skin took a turn for the worse. I suffered from horrible breakouts while I was pregnant and breastfeeding—and I mean horrible. But because I wasn’t willing to risk the health of my children, I avoided acne treatments of any kind—whether they oral or topical. After I was done having my kids, I was left with what I thought was permanent acne scarring and an even worse self-esteem.

I truly believed there was no hope for my skin and that I would have to live with these scars for the rest of my life. My journey started when I began working with Dr. Ross Campbell at Georgia Skin Cancer and Aesthetic Dermatology. As I mentioned, going through the early stages of motherhood with severe facial scarring was a huge blow to my self-esteem. Instead of being able to focus on enjoying moments with my family, I was too busy worried that everyone was staring at my skin (and they usually were).
