What Every New Mother Needs to Know

7

Life is one of the greatest miracles in our lives. Being able to give birth to a beautiful child is a dream come true for many. For most of you your lives would not be complete without your children. They are a reflection of you. Something you yourself helped create. Having a child is a huge deal. Not an easy task whatsoever.  It’s not always fun in the park having and raising a child. Sure there will be lots of beautiful moments but there will also be some not so great times. Especially if it is your first child, you could find yourself completely lost without having an idea of what to do.  There are some ways to prepare yourselves for being new parents, There are a few things all mothers should know. What are the most important things every mother needs to know?

It seems like there are so many things you need to know before being a parent. Regardless though, you should never be too prepared. There will almost always be something that comes up that makes you completely pull your hair out. So what should every new mother really need to know?  Well first of all there are the basics. Somethings that are very important you must know.  There is no doubt that every mother will agree that during pregnancy, the only thing worse than the stretch marks and bad gas are the hours of bad parenting advice you get from every source imaginable. This is why it is so important to do your own research when trying to figure out what you need to know before having a child.

The first thing you really need to know is that you must listen to your instincts. If you know your baby is hungry, feed it. Always go with your gut. No one will know your baby as well as you will. So if you feel it needs to eat, feed it. It doesn’t matter what anyone told you or read in a book. You have to know how to listen to your gut instinct. Second important thing you should know is listening to your baby’s cues.  You need to catch these cues to best treat your baby. Like know what it does before crying to tell you it’s hungry. This is because babies can’t talk and communicate through body language. Just pay close attention and in no time you will be an expert at deciphering your baby’s cues.

Next you need to make a decision whether you will be nursing or formula feeding, Because if you’re going to be breastfeeding you’re going to have to learn how to do it properly so you can get your baby milk drunk. If you are using formula to feed your baby you need to know how much and what kind is right for your baby. Another thing is that you should not get caught up trying to be the perfect mother. There is no such thing as a perfect mother. Just try to be the best mother you can be. That’s all that anyone could ever ask for.  Next thing is that you have to make time with your other half. It’s important to keep that spark going. Go out on a date nite or do something for the two of you. Last but not least you have to make sure you take some time for yourself. Being a mother to a newborn is hard work. Take some time so you don’t burn yourself out or get to overly stressed. Don’t feel bad about doing this. You need to take care of yourself as well.

These are things that you should really consider doing and talk to your spouse about it all. You don’t have to be the perfect mother. No one is, you will all make some kind of mistake no matter how careful or prepared you think you are. Just make sure to have a plan and adjust it as you go. All you have to do is be the best mom you could be. It isn’t always going to be easy but all you can do is try your best. Good luck to all. God bless!
