For 2Q 2014, Disney Channel was TV’s #1 Total Day network for the 13th-consecutive quarter in Kids 6-11 (491,000/2.1 rating – dates back to 2Q11) and for the 21st-straight quarter in Tweens 9-14 (421,000/1.7 rating – dates back to 2Q09).
Notably, the network closed out the quarter ranking as TV’s #1 network in Kids 2-11 for the 2nd-consecutive week, for the 159th time in the previous 160 weeks in Kids 6-11 and for the 160th week in a row Tweens (over 3 years).
The Disney Channel Original Movie “Zapped,” original comedy “Girl Meets World” and the “2014 Radio Disney Music Awards” stood as the Top 3 TV telecasts among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, while “Zapped” and “Girl Meets World” were the Top 2 TV telecasts among Kids 2-11.
Disney Channel out-delivered Nickelodeon by at least double digits for the 12th quarter in a row in Kids 6-11
(+22% –491,000 vs. 401,000) and Tweens 9-14 (+55% –421,000 vs. 272,000) – dates back to 6/27/11.
In Prime, Disney Channel stood as TV’s #1 network for the 40th-consecutive quarter in Kids 6-11 (758,000/3.2 rating) and 63rd in Tweens 9-14 (648,000/2.7 rating).
The premiere of original movie “Zapped” (6/27/14, 8:00 – 9:45 p.m.) ranked as the #1 TV telecast of 2Q14 across major youth Kid 2-11 (2.9 million/7.2 rating), Kid 6-11 (2.3 million/9.5 rating) and Tween 9-14 (2.1 million/8.7 rating) demographics. In fact, the movie became the #1 cable TV telecast of 2014 to date across the demos.
The launch of “Girl Meets World” (6/27/14, 9:45 – 10:15 p.m.) ranked as the #1 series launch of 2014 across Kids 2-11 (2.3 million/5.7 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.8 million/7.6 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.7 million/6.9 rating).
