1. Crib Tents

The purpose of a crib tent is to keep a toddler from climbing out of their crib. However, they have also been proven to be potential death-traps. Little hands and fingers constantly poking and pulling can cause the mesh to tear. If this happens, and your little one attempts to escape, they may become tangled or trapped.

Do you have a child who constantly climbs out of their crib? If so, it’s best to buy a toddler bed and do away with the crib for good. This will keep them safe and avoid possible dangers.

2. A Sleep Positioner

These are flat or wedged mats that are designed to keep a baby on his or her back while they are sleeping. The claim of this product is to reduce the possibility of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) along with colic diseases.

Unfortunately, there’s no research to support these potential benefits. In fact, it’s been proven that sleep positioners can actually increase the likelihood of a baby suffocating to death. It has been reported that approximately 13 deaths have been reported in the past decade due to sleep positioners. It’s simply not worth the risk.

3. Crib Bumpers

There are many people who believe having a cute bumper inside their baby’s crib is going to help prevent an injury to the tiny limbs of the baby and keep them from becoming stuck in between the rails. The truth is that these pads are extremely dangerous and can cause strangulation and suffocation.

Pads have even been linked to cases of SIDS. Your baby’s head may get caught at the side of the crib and the bumper. Also, as the baby gets older, they may be able to use the bumper to get out of the bed, resulting in a fall.

4. Walkers

While walkers may seem like a good idea. After all, they help the infant stand and then walk before they are able to do it on their own. However, this isn’t as convenient and safe as they may seem. Each year, over 21,300 injuries occurred because of babies rolling downstairs and winding up in the emergency room.

There are some studies that have even shown that walkers may delay a child from being able to reach their developmental milestones on time. If you want something for your baby, consider one of the walk-around activity centers.

5. Bumbo Chairs

These colorful and cute chairs were extremely popular when they were first launched. This is especially true because it presented a great way to feed a baby.

However, the product was ultimately recalled when it was discovered that infants could fall off the seat if they rocked, arched, or leaned while in it. While a new product, with a strap, has been introduced, this still isn’t enough to keep a baby completely safe, as it can still fall over.
