5 hotel design tips you can bring to your home

7

London is home to many amazing attractions – and lots of outstanding hotels. There’s nothing better than heading back to your hotel room and enjoying all of the luxurious touches. The Egyptian cotton, fluffy cloud-like pillows, uncluttered room and rainforest shower. Pure bliss! The feeling when you return home to your unmade bed, messy living room and ropey shower curtain – not so blissful. Though this doesn’t have to be the case, there are many affordable ways in which you can create your very own London inspired 5-star luxury hotel space at home.

Heading to London soon? Don’t forget to book your car hire London and pre-book a luxury afternoon tea experience in one of the city’s best hotels. You can use their interior design for inspiration when you arrive home…

  • Get rid of the clutter

One of the reasons why we instantly feel so relaxed in a hotel room is the lack of clutter and mess. It’s easy to forget the no clutter rule at home as you go about your daily life, but it really can have a negative impact on your mood. Spend a weekend clearing the clutter; organize a garage sale or donate any unwanted items to your local charity shop. You may also want to look into some handy storage options to keep your belongings safely stored and out of sight. Hotels are always extremely well-designed so take note and try to implement this into your own home. Shelves are a great way to house and showcase your favorite books, candles and ornaments.

  • Create your own spa bathroom

Luxury hotel bathrooms always provide an enjoyable experience, usually complete with a walk-in shower, marble tiles, power shower and his/hers sinks. If your budget doesn’t quite stretch to a complete bathroom overhaul, you can add a few inspired touches without breaking the bank. Replacing your shower curtain with a glass panel is a great starting point. You could also look to invest in a collection of new, fluffy towels that are fit for a hotel. Heated towel racks are a great way to display your new towels and don’t forget to dot a few scented candles around for a luxe touch.

  • Give your bedroom an upgrade

When replicating a hotel-style bedroom, your bed should always take center stage. Your bedding, pillows and curtains should flow seamlessly – no mismatched sheets and net curtains here. Go for 100% Egyptian cotton in a simple style, avoid garish patterns and stick to a neutral color palette. Upgrade your pillows to a plump and supportive design and if you’re dressing up a double or king-size bed, be sure to buy at least two pillows for each side of the bed. Decorate with scatter cushions; play around with different textures here such as velvet and faux fur for a decadent feel.

  • Think about the lighting

Lighting is generally ignored in homes as it’s often way down on the priority list, if on the list at all. You won’t find harsh overhead lighting in luxury hotels, instead you’ll be greeted with warm and calming mood-boosting lighting. Consider adding a beautiful chandelier to your bedroom and lounge to create a high-end vibe. Bedside lighting is also an important consideration, here you can play with interesting lampshades and designs – just make sure they match.

  • Add flowers and plants

Add life to your home with stunning flower arrangements and plants to not only look fabulous but ensure your air is clean too. A bouquet of seasonal flowers can make all the difference to a room, offering a wonderful visual and also a beautiful scent. They will make for the perfect centerpiece on your coffee table or kitchen island. Flower subscription services are an ideal way to ensure your home is never without a few floral touches. House plants such as a Monstera offer a real statement and are also fairly easy to keep alive.

So, what are you waiting for? Make your home feel as luxurious as a hotel with these five design tips.
