Laundry Room Remodel With Closet Maid

Because our laundry room was not only outdated in 80’s style flooring and cabinetry, we decided we’d start with that room first. We knew we needed a closet maidway to organize it and make it flow with the rest of the house. Organization is the art of finding things. I remember my mom saying, “There’s a place for everything, and everything should be in its place.”

Let’s face it, some people are better organizers than others, but none of us can organize without having the proper organizational gear. That’s where ClosetMaid comes in. They have everything you can imagine for organizing your life. I looked on their website and found thing that would make organizing and remodeling our laundry room easy and affordable!

We started by gutting our laundry room and the adjacent half-bath. We then selected two of the Tall Storage Cabinets, the 3-Drawer Base Cabinets, and two of the Two-door Wall Mounted Cabinets. The doors and drawer fronts have powder-coated finish which are chip, stain and scratch resistant. The large brushed steel handles add a look of elegance and charm. They are also UV and moisture resistant with a laminate and powder-coated wood. They have really added an elegant look to my utility room.

My laundry room has never been more organized. I use the tall storage cabinets as our panty unit, which I absolutely love! The 3 drawer cabinet I store our sandwich bags and food wraps in. The bottom drawer is so deep and holds all our dusting and cleaning supplies. And the draws have full extension drawer slides which enables to drawer to open the full depth. At this point, if i had to go back to my old laundry room, I’d just sell the house and move on! I love the amazing organization and look that the ClosetMaid garage storage unites has giving my new laundry room.

washerAbove the washer and dryer we placed one of the 2-door wall cabinets, I can’t believe how much it holds.  I was able to put in six large bottles of laundry soap, 6 boxes of dryer sheets and 8 boxes of dishwasher pods, plus, a few other odds and ends and there is still room for more! Aside from taking out the old 80’s cabinets and replacing them with the ClosetMaid Garage Storage Unites, we removed a water heater and water softener and added shelves for extra storage. We also put in new flooring, which I absolutely love! The flooring is Santo Andre Brazilian Cherry Laminate provided by Lumber Liquidators. It is absolutely beautiful and easy to install. We are currently working on a DIY video that will show you exactly how easy it is to install with step-by-step instruction. In order to put in the flooring and put together the ClosetMaid storage unites we had the help of Ryobi Tools! We used the 18V 6 PC. LITHIUM+™ Ultimate Combo Kit  and used nearly every tool in the kit before we completed the remodel.

We decided to paint the bottom half of the walls Clark+Kensington Beach House blue from Ace Hardware in order to add some depth brylane homeand serenity to the laundry room. And finally we added a Cubbie Bench from BrylaneHome which is one of my favorite pieces! It looks fabulous in our laundry room, plus it offers a place to sit while putting on and taking off your shoes.

The ClosetMaid storage units are sturdy pieces of furniture; not cheap, flimsy storage units. They deliver via freight truck and come boxed and un-assembled, however, the easy to understand instructions and assembly wasn’t hard (even for me).

Now that I have had my ClosetMaid storage units for a few months, and I love them and want to organize the rest of my home using ClosetMaid products. You can see by the pictures that they are beautiful pieces of furniture and my utility room is finally organized and beautiful. Now if I can just get my kids to put things back when they use them!

If you’re looking to organize any room in your home, look at these  ClosetMaid designs. ClosetMaid has storage down to a science. You can visit them at http://www.closetmaid.com/. Their products can also be purchased at Lowe’s, Target, and Walmart.

Well, now that I have the utility room under control, I have to get to work on the rest of the house! We will be working on the living room along with some beautiful window treatment from Select Blinds and BrylaneHome!
