We tend to think of our living rooms as adult-only spaces. But you’ll know that’s never true if you have children. They have a unique ability to make the room their own. You can either fight it or join them. And as you might guess from the title of this post, we prefer the latter.
Just remember, playgrounds don’t need to be in the backyard or at the park. They can also be right inside your home.
So what do you need to do to turn your living room into a magical playground? Let’s take a look.
Make Some Room
The first step is to make some room for a play area. You and your kids need enough space to play without knocking into ottomans, coffee tables, and cabinets.
Ideally, you want a square space, 10×10 feet, or a little more. (If you don’t have that much room in your home, don’t worry. Smaller spaces can suffice).
Make sure you move any dangerous items out of the way and ensure the area is safe for little ones who might want to run around. Get rid of or cover any sharp or pointed objects and then test the area by kneeling down at child level and moving around yourself.
Add Some Props
The next step is to add all the props you need to make the space fun and give it a playful atmosphere. Balls, blankets, pillows, and stuffed letters are all great additions. You might also want to add a box of easily-accessible toys for your kids to play with. Costumes, fairy lights, and stuffed animals are also excellent additions.
Try to focus on including items that kids can use creatively. Cushions and blankets are great options because kids can use them to build forts. Blocks and bricks are also something you should consider because they can become anything in your child’s imagination.
Add Music And Lighting
You should also spend some time setting the scene with music and lighting. Adding these will help to change how the space feels, making it more playful.
Lights should be high above the play area, out of the reach of children. Don’t place lamps on top of side tables that kids could easily knock over. Instead, get multi-colored LEDs and place them on the ceiling or in recessed areas out of the way. Then pair them with apps that let you change their colour on rotation.
Invite Friends Over
Once the room is all set up, you’re ready to invite over your kids’ friends for a playdate. While they will enjoy playing with you, having children in their peer group alongside them can make the experience even more memorable. Kids’ ability to come up with games is almost endless.
Finally, make sure that everyone has fun. Help your children create stories and explore their imaginations. Include pets in the chaos, and bring in a tray of delicious food at the end of the play session to round it off. After a day of excitement, everyone should sleep well, including you.
This is an excellent post I seen thanks to share it. It is really what I wanted to see hope in future you will continue for sharing such a excellent post.
