Steps to Take to Increase Your Chances of Conception

0

Getting pregnant isn’t always easy. Many women experience problems before getting pregnant. They may not choose to talk about it, so it can feel like you’re the only one. However, it’s perfectly normal, and there are ways to boost your fertility.

Change Your Diet

Changing your diet is one of the best ways to improve your chances of conceiving. Not only will your body be in the best shape to increase fertility, but it will also be in the best condition for carrying a healthy baby to full term.

There are lots of diets out there, but the best is a low carb fertility diet. This doesn’t mean cutting out all carbs. The healthier solution is to reduce them and concentrate on good carbs.

Stop drinking alcohol

Women will stop drinking alcohol after conceiving, but it’s beneficial to stop drinking while you’re trying to conceive. This can be particularly useful if it’s taking longer than you hoped. It also means that if you fall pregnant and don’t find out until several weeks afterward, you don’t risk drinking while pregnant.

Cut down on caffeine

Cutting down on caffeine can help improve fertility, and also reduce the chances of a miscarriage or a smaller weight at birth than what is typically healthy. If you enjoy drinking tea, there are still caffeine-free options for you to try.

It may be difficult to stop drinking or reduce caffeine if you rely on coffee to get going in the morning or drink a lot of cola and other caffeinated drinks. Some alternatives you could try are water, which has many health benefits, and homemade smoothies, which help boost your energy levels. Depending on the fruits you use, these can also count towards some of the ‘good carbs’ you need in your diet.

Exercise

Similar to changing your diet and cutting out alcohol, exercise can help prepare your body for pregnancy, giving you the best chance of conceiving and giving birth to a healthy baby. Alongside the other advice in this article, your body will be more energized and you’ll find you have more stamina, which you’ll also need after your baby is born. This exercise doesn’t have to be too strenuous. Walking, yoga, or gentle swimming are just a few of the options. Try these out until you discover which one you prefer. If you enjoy your chosen activity; you’ll be more likely to stick to it.

Supplements

You can buy specific fertility supplements from chemists and health food shops to boost your fertility. However, some of the vitamins your body will need include; vitamins E and D, fish oil, iron, and selenium. You should already be getting some vitamins and nutrients to aid fertility, through the food you eat, especially if you’re following a healthy diet. If you can work out which ones your body is lacking, you can buy the necessary supplements.

If you are trying to get pregnant without success, it can be worth seeing a doctor to confirm there are no underlying issues. If there aren’t, then following the above steps could be all you need to do.
