5 Life Hacks for Stay-At-Home Moms

Being a stay-at-home mom is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever have. There are times where you will feel like you are on top of the world and nothing touches that feeling of accomplished elation… until you get thwacked in the eye by one of your dinosaur-shaped mini sandwiches and you start from scratch. That is why life hacks for moms were invented, to help you cut corners so you have more time to enjoy the important things in life. Here are my top 5 favorites:

•  Fix Squeaky Floors Instantly

This is by far the most useful tips for all new moms with wooden floors that have a nasty habit of squeaking when you walk over them. My baby wakes up for the slightest sound so sneaking out of the nursery was Mission Impossible on steroids. This problem plagued me for 3 weeks before I Googled to find out what I could do about it and the answer blew my mind – just sprinkle some baby powder on the squeaky areas and sweep it into the cracks and your problem will be solved. 

• Printable Lunchtime Planners

These free printable lunchtime planners are great for always knowing what to make your kids for lunch. You can get your kids involved in this too by letting them decorate the planners with glitter or pictures and a bit of good quality school glue. These are time-savers that I cannot live without but feel free to change them up every month or so to keep the lunch excitement going.

• Easy Zipper Fix

Unsticking stuck zippers is a surprisingly common thing in our house, I think I used to spend around 4 hours collectively per month wiggling and jiggling those pesky little tabs to get a kid into or out of their favourite jacket or jeans. Now I use a neat little trick to get the job done so much faster, all it takes is rubbing a bit of candle wax over the zipper’s teeth where the zipper is stuck. The wax lubricates the zipper parts and helps them to work properly so you can focus on helping your children thrive.

• Take Photos

This one is more of a pro tip rather than an actual hack but it’s certainly something all moms should be doing. When your family goes on a big trip or an outing to a busy place, take a family photo so you know exactly what everyone is wearing should you need help trying to find them. These things do happen from time to time, it is best to always be prepared for anything. This is a particularly great safety tip for beach trips where the older kids go off in their own direction.

• No-Drip Popsicle Stick

By popping your kid’s popsicle into a cupcake liner, you will be saving yourself (and them) a ton of time cleaning up. The liner will catch anything that drips and go a long way in keeping their clothes and hands clean and sticky-juice free.
