Now, we have those captured memories readily available any time we want to show them off.

A popular and fantastic way to celebrate a special occasion and display those photos is with a gallery wall. When you utilize a wall in your home to display an array of beautiful images you have taken, it can add depth to a room and completely transform it, making it infinitely more interesting.

Whether you’re as artistic as they come or you have no clue how to make a gallery wall, we’ve got some great tips that you should check out to help ensure that it’s the perfect addition to your home.

1. The Perfect Spot

Generally speaking, a large wall is where many folks place their gallery wall, and it is a great idea. However, that’s not the only option.

A gallery wall can look great almost anywhere. You can consider placing a small one near the kitchen cabinets or on either side of the fireplace. You can also center a 10×10 canvas above the bed with photos from a special occasion.

It doesn’t have to be huge to make an impact on the room. Since you can tailor the gallery wall to fit any space, they’re perfect for homes of any size. Just pick the right spot, and you’re ready to start.

2. The Perfect Photos

If you want a gallery wall to be proud of, you definitely shouldn’t just throw some photos on the wall. You need to plan it out to ensure that it looks exactly how you want.

Before you pick out the photos, you need to consider:

  • The theme are you going for with your photo wall
    • Do you want one that’s uniform, or do you want to mix and match?
  • How many photos do you want to hang?
  • Do you want to mix in other decorative items, such as mirrors or cool clocks?

Once you’ve answered those questions, it’s time to pick the photos for your gallery wall. To protect them from damage and household pests, you should frame them. Additionally, instead of picking up generic ones at a local retail store, consider customizing your own frames.

3. Making it Perfect

Now that you’ve got the perfect photos for your project, you need to do a little more planning for their arrangement to make your gallery wall complete.

Get some crafting paper, or save some money and use old newspapers top put your framed photos on top of it. Trace each of them, cut the stencil out, and then stick them to the wall with painter’s tape to not damage the wall.

You can then arrange and move the stencils around to get the desired arrangement. Once completed, you can use a tape measure to ensure uniform spacing and a level to make sure everything is aligned perfectly. Then, one by one, replace the stencils with the appropriate picture, and viola, your wall is transformed.

When it comes to creating a gallery wall, utilizing these tips can help you make the ideal gallery wall for your home. Not to mention they can save you a lot of time and frustration since you’ll avoid hanging the photos in a way that looks haphazard or just plain ugly.

But best of all, you’ll be able to transform any wall in your home or apartment with a gallery wall you can be proud of.
