Of the many sales tools available to small business owners, obtaining positive feedback in the form of strong client reviews is the least expensive, and most powerful.

As Finance Online said in their 2019 & 2020 Customer Review Statistics: 

  • 9 out of 10 consumers read reviews before making a purchase.
  • 93% of consumers report that online reviews influence their purchasing decisions.
  • 91% of consumers between 18 – 34 trust online reviews as much as recommendations…

Even so, many business owners are reluctant to introduce or encourage customer reviews simply because they fear negative feedback. 

“In today’s online world, it is plainly clear that consumers will generally not buy a product or service if no reviews can be found” says John Doe

This is why it is imperative that company’s today, more than ever, must address customer complaints quickly  and efficiently, and, seek reviews from these people when all  has  been resolved!  Which brings up an important point. “Business owners should realize that clients are moved to leave reviews because of the passion they feel, both good…because they have had their problems resolved…and bad, because they provided poor to no service.  This is why all company’s should employ the use of proactive review platforms like grade.us.  Think about it, when a person purchases something, and receives it with no issues,  does  he/she think of leaving a review…NOT A CHANCE”  Doe goes on, “a system that automatically sends customers a simple request to review, like Grade. Here are XXXX simple steps to help you garner customer reviews for your business

Display reviews on your site

Place a few reviews in prominent spots on all landing pages.  Doing this simple process encourages new customers to make a first purchase and repeat customers to continue to  purchase.  While all reviews cannot be displayed on the landing page, a simple link can be placed in a visible spot on the landing page that links customers to the rest.

Social media 

Says Jared J. Davis; “Smart companies use their social media accounts to get candid feedback from their clients.  The reason, people tend to spend more time online within the boundaries of a social media platform.” In addition, Brick and mortar businesses must always have google and yelp listings, as many clients believe leaving reviews on these platforms feels more authentic

Ask buyers to leave a comment

Send an email to a buyer shortly after their purchase asking for a review. 

John Doe says, “Don’t ask too quickly, it may vex the buyer.  You  want to give them abit of time to use the product and  get an accurate opinion.” 

If you ask for a review on time when the purchase is still fresh, there is a high probability you succeed. If you let too much time lapse, they may be on to other things.

Make customers happy to review you

Send a personalized note thanking them for taking the time to write a review. Apologize and resolve any issue in the case of complaints and use the negative review to improve your business.
