5 Tips for Managing Your Cloud Photo Storage

8

The average person has about 630 photos stored on their cell phone. But it’s not uncommon at all for some people to have even more photos than that.

In fact, there are quite a few people who have thousands of photos sitting on their cell phones at any given moment. These digital photos can really eat into the storage space that they have available on their cell phones.

If you’re running out of space on your cell phone because of all the photos on it, using cloud photo storage might be the solution to your problem. You can upload your whole photo collection to your preferred form of cloud storage and free up so much space on your phone in the process.

When you do this, though, you’re going to need to make organizing photos a top priority. Otherwise, your photo gallery is going to fall into a state of disarray, and it’ll be impossible for you to find photos when you need them.

Here are five tips for managing your cloud photo storage.

1. Start by Choosing the Right Cloud Photo Storage Option

Before you can begin to utilize cloud photo storage, you’re going to need to choose which cloud storage option you want to use. Since people have become pretty obsessed with using their phones to take photos these days, there are literally dozens of cloud storage options for you to choose from.

Some of the most popular cloud photo storage options out there today are:

  • Apple iCloud
  • Google Photos
  • Flickr
  • Amazon Photos
  • Microsoft OneDrive

It’s difficult to say which one of these options is going to work best for you. You’ll need to try a few of them out to see which one suits you. Most of them offer free trials, which will give you an opportunity to put them to the test without spending a small fortune to do it.

2. Set Up Your Phone to Send Photos to the Cloud Automatically

The great thing about using cloud photo storage is that you shouldn’t have to do much to get your photos up into the cloud. All you’ll need to do is set up your phone so that it automatically sends your photos to the cloud on a regular basis.

You should look into how to set this up through your specific cloud photo storage provider. Each one has a slightly different process that they use to take photos from your phone and store them in the cloud.

But regardless of which process you have to go through, you should eventually be able to put your photo collection into storage in the cloud without too much effort on your part. You should also be able to go and grab photos from the cloud whenever you want to without having to jump through too many hoops.

3. Get Into the Habit of Deleting Duplicate Photos From Your Phone

If you’re like most people, you probably have lots of duplicate photos stored on your phone right now. People like to take a lot of photos of the same thing in an effort to land the perfect shot, and it typically results in duplicate photos piling up on their phones.

You should try to get yourself into the habit of deleting duplicate photos from your phone as often as you can. Or better yet, you should download an app to your phone that is designed to delete duplicate photos for you.

This app should be able to find duplicate photos and make it possible for you to delete the ones that you don’t want to keep. It’ll stop you from having dozens and sometimes even hundreds of duplicate photos stored in the cloud unnecessarily.

4. Delete Photos You Don’t Need Anymore From the Cloud Every So Often

You can send tons and tons of photos to your cloud photo storage without filling it up. But if you continue to do this over the course of a few years, there will come a point when you’ll have too many photos in the cloud. You’ll run out of space and be unable to continue to store your photos in cloud storage.

To avoid getting to this point, you should try to delete photos that you know you don’t need anymore from the cloud every so often. It’ll prevent you from running out of room in the cloud and make organizing photos a breeze at the same time.

5. Make Sure Your Photos That Are Stored in the Cloud Are Secure at All Times

The last thing that you would ever want is someone breaking into your cloud photo storage and gaining access to the photos that you’re storing there. This will be especially true if you just so happen to have any scandalous photos stored in the cloud (and we know that a lot of you are taking these kinds of photos!).

You should make sure that your cloud photo storage is password protected. You should also make your password impossible for other people to guess and steer clear of giving your password out to anyone for any reason.

In addition to doing these things, you should change your password early and often, too. It will keep the photos that you store in the cloud safe and sound at all times.

You Can Manage Your Cloud Photo Storage More Effectively by Taking These Steps

Cloud photo storage is an excellent option for anyone who is sick and tired of running out of space on their phone because of all the photos on it. You won’t have to be worried about this happening anymore when you start sending photos to the cloud.

But you should do your best to manage your cloud photo storage so that it doesn’t get too out of control. You won’t have any issues finding photos in the cloud when you keep them neat and organized.
