Parents love their children and think of everything they need so that they would never want for anything. They make sure to make their rooms feel welcoming and be full of things that the kids enjoy, they make sure that there aren’t any problems with the place in which the child rests and plays, but they rarely think about the bed. Scientific studies have shown that there is actually quite a lot riding on the fact that your kid manages to get a good night’s rest time. This might be easier said than done in some instances because of bed management if often times overlooked. Here some of the most important details to keep in mind before buying children’s bed.

The positioning

It’s very important to position so that the head won’t be placed towards the room entrance/exit. Studies have shown that our brains recognize positions even when we’re sleeping and that sleeping with your head towards the door will give you a feeling of uncertainty. Sleeping in such a position is the equivalent of the body feeling vulnerable in regards to protecting itself against attackers that might rush through that door any moment. Place the bed so that the child doesn’t sleep with their backs to the door.

The mattress

This is probably one of the most important things to keep in mind regarding children’s beds. Make sure to invest a little extra cash and change the generic mattress that comes with the bed. In most cases, these mattresses don’t provide any quality and are even a health hazard. When looking for the best mattress for kids, it’s important to recognize that lumbar support is key. Research what characteristics make a good mattress so that you know what to invest in without overpaying for products that don’t bring any additional value to the table.

The material

We’ve mentioned mattress quality but haven’t referred yet to the quality of the materials used in its fabrication. The wrong materials can invite bugs and bacteria and ultimately represent a safety hazard.  Some artificial materials can also produce rashes on the children’s bodies, or trigger allergies. Some are also incredibly tough to wash, meaning that you will have a hard time taking out any kinds of stains or otherwise usage marks off of it in the long run.

Taking these tips into consideration will prove ever so useful as you enhance the sleeping experience of your children tenfold.  While it requires an additional investment on your part, it’s definitely not something to empty the emergency fund account for. When you also take into account that a good night’s sleep defines the productivity of the next day, the extra hassle is definitely worth it, not to mention that you are protecting the little ones from the various health detrimental situations that have been aforementioned.
