Have you ever tossed some chicken in a crockpot, sprinkled on every spice in your spice rack, and headed out for the day? What about popping a roast in the oven at 6:00 AM and then heading to work knowing it would be perfect and falling apart by 6:30 PM when you walk back in the door after a long day? Ever been running late to pick your kids up from school and ran out the door at super speed without putting out the candle that was burning and perhaps forgetting your bra (not that I have ever done that!)? Or my favorite, over the holidays, left the house to do some late Christmas shopping (everyone shops on Christmas Eve, right?) and prayed that your house is still standing after you’ve spent hours at the mall… and realized halfway through your grabbing spree that you left the Christmas lights lit on the tree that you have forgotten to water for the last three days. There are so many examples they all make me cringe, and I am sure we have all been victim guilty of taking part in them at one time or another.

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I am talking about the fear of my house catching fire and burning down when I am not at home. Not that I would want to be inside my house if it were to catch fire BUT hopefully that would up my chances of getting ahold of the fire department, saving my pets, and salvaging our home. My other fear, carbon monoxide! Have you done any research on how dangerous it is? We have a carbon monoxide monitor/alarm in all of the bedrooms in our home, test them every six months, and pray we never hear them go off. Don’t worry, we also test our smoke alarms too and replace batteries but a fire is a lot easier to see than carbon monoxide, ya know, since it isn’t invisible!

So, is there a way to put ourselves at ease when we leave our homes in less than optimal positions? Did you know that you shouldn’t even run your dryer at night when you go to bed or leave your home? That one is crazy to me but it too could catch fire! Anyway, there is a solution to this problem and it is one that thankfully won’t break the bank.

Enter, the Leeo Smart Alert Nightlight.

This easy-to-use device monitors your home’s existing smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms and will alert residents when they sound. But, how does it do that you ask? Simple! You simply plug the device into a power outlet and pair it with the FREE Leeo app.  Anytime you are away, the Leeo Smart Alert Nightlight will “listen” to your existing safety devices and if an alarm sounds, it will send the owners, wherever they are, a notification to their phone.

Even cooler, once you are notified, you are given the option to connect with local emergency services. Why is this cool? If you receive a notification that your house is on fire or the carbon monoxide alarm is going off, your brain will shut down or at least turn into a partial gooey mess, I want someone to take charge and tell me to call for help; the Leeo does that!

Now, say you are getting your hair done, are at a doctor’s appointment, or maybe you are even in the middle of something private … say like a surgery (see what I did there?) and you don’t respond to the notification. The Leeo app will alert contacts that the user has setup and notify them of the problem and then your contacts will be able to notify authorities on your behalf. I don’t know about you but I am definitely appreciative of a backup system.
