How to Find the Right Drug Rehab Facility

0

Have you been trying to find a drug rehab facility that is suitable for your specific needs? It can be very difficult to narrow down your list because there are so many different facilities out there. Needless to say, all of them claim to provide the best and most professional treatment for their patients. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. You will need to invest quite a bit of time to do some research in order to determine the ideal detox center that will give you the help you require. Choosing your rehab facility is a big decision that you should not rush. Here are some issues to carefully think about prior to becoming a rehab patient.

1. How long is the treatment?

Not all rehab facilities have programs that last for the same length of time. The facilities make up their own programs. Therefore, the amount of time that you spend in one facility could be much different than one that you just finished looking at. It is important to remember that spending a long time in rehab does not necessarily mean that you will be getting better and more comprehensive treatment than a different facility that has a shorter program. The length of the program has nothing to do with the quality of care that a treatment facility provides to you. Having more time exposed to inferior care will not give you the tools you need to succeed after you leave treatment and resume your life. However, it is important to know how long the program at each facility will be. This will allow you to make the proper arrangements to take time off from your job to receive treatment.

2. Qualifications of your therapist

Your primary therapist is the staff member at the rehab facility who will be the most pivotal during your recovery process. This is the person you will have many one-on-one therapy sessions with. He or she will help guide you through the process of detox and rehab by giving you therapy which will allow you to discover the reasons you abuse drugs or alcohol. This type of insight is incredibly valuable when it comes to making you a productive member of society again. This is why choosing a good therapist is so vital to making a successful recovery and kicking your drug or alcohol addiction for good. You need to take a close look at the qualifications of the therapist who will be treating you before you make a commitment to attend a particular detox center. You need to know exactly who you will be dealing with before you sign any paperwork. You will find that some rehab therapists have much more training than others. Ideally, you need to find a therapist who has many years of experience working with hundreds of addicts. You can’t allow your rehab therapy to be overseen by someone who is just getting their feet wet in the world of drug and alcohol treatment.

3. Should you try an outpatient rehab facility?

There is a lot of debate regarding inpatient rehab compared to outpatient treatment. Each one has many supporters. This can make it confusing as to which one you should choose. There are some people who do not want to be confined in one building for a long period of time. They compare this experience to prison. This is why many of these people opt to attend outpatient rehab because they are allowed to live at home and basically go wherever they want when they are not in treatment. However, the freedom to go wherever you want is not necessarily a good thing when you are trying to kick a drug or alcohol habit. People undergoing outpatient treatment will often suffer a relapse when they meet up with people they used to drink or do drugs with. Needless to say, it is not good for a person in recovery to be around people like this. It is also common for people in outpatient programs to put themselves in high risk environments such as parties where drinking and drug use are occurring. The controlled environment of an inpatient program eliminates the possibility of these things happening.

4. What is their track record?

Some rehab facilities have a stellar reputation in their industry. These are the places you should be looking at. You want to avoid the facilities that have had many lawsuits and complaints filed against them for negligence. A facility’s reputation will give you a good idea about the quality of treatment you will receive.
