Many of you may not have ever had to deal with making a choice to either feed your family or buy diapers for your baby! It’s a big financial hardship on so many families, many simply can’t afford to purchase diapers for their little bundle of joy!!
Trust me when I say there are many families that have to make the decision to eat or purchase diapers daily. Actually, 1 in 3 American families experience diaper need, that’s a lot!! We all know the cost of living is high as it is which makes it even harder for these families to try and afford diapers.
If a mom can’t afford to purchase diapers this means mom may have to let baby stay longer in that soiled diaper, or sad to say, reuse it again. This could lead to serious health issues, like infections, terrible rashes, and even hospitalization for these babies!!!!!
This week is Diaper Need Awareness Week (September 28 until October 4). The goal is to raise awareness and funds all around the word for this issue of diaper need. That’s where Healthy Mom & Baby magazine, the nurses of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, Kimberly Clark, and the National Diaper Bank Network have launched the Healthy Mom & Baby Wipe Out Diaper Need campaign (DiaperDrive.org) to raise 100,000 diapers for families in need across the nation! People can help provide diapers to babies and toddlers that need them by donating online or dropping them off at their nearest Diaper Bank location..
Kids all over the country will benefit from this awesome diaper campaign! The struggle is real people and so is the poverty level all around the country. Here in MI many of our communities have been stepping up with donating, many of our police stations have opened up their office as a drop off diaper station…how cool right!
