Why Eating Healthy Is Only One Part of the Equation

2

As the saying goes: ‘you are what you eat’. It’s definitely true that eating healthy does contribute to gaining a better and healthier body and lifestyle. Unfortunately, eating a balanced diet only takes you so far.

There are other parts of the healthy life equation that should not be ignored. Life requires balance, and to get healthy, you need to balance out your healthy diet with other things too to attain that ultimate goal.

  • Exercise

In our busy lives, trying to squeeze out some time to exercise every day can be a seemingly impossible task. Even if you manage to get past that, the thought of exercising can be daunting to most people. Well, take a deep breath and let all those bad thoughts out. Trust us: it is easier than it seems.

It doesn’t matter what kind of exercise you do or even how much of it is done. The crux of it is that you try your best to get into the habit of doing it. Play to your strengths in this, especially when starting out.

If you like walking, walk instead of drive on your next errand. If you can swim, do your best to get into the water at least once a week. After that, it slowly will become second nature to get your body moving more.

Later on, you can try to work in more specialized or intensive workouts. Make sure that the exercise you do gets your heart and lungs working a bit harder than they are used to. This will help to improve your cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

The activities might hurt and leave you sore but try your best to add some exercises to strengthen your muscles and bones. Not only will you become healthier, but your body will become more toned as a result too.

  • Go Outside

It’s probably very tempting to spend most of your time indoors, watching TV or staring at some other electronic device with a screen. However, you should always try to limit the time you spend sitting down and staring at a screen. Block out some time in your daily schedule to just go outside and get some fresh air. You can get spruced up in your outdoor gear to hit the trails, or you can just walk around and do some stretches.

The lesson here is both to spend more time outside in nature and also to limit the time you are staring at a screen. Being in a green space has been proven to have positive effects on health. As such, going to the park or having a garden at home will help you to become healthier in the long run.

A word of caution: don’t get too much sun. While being exposed to sunlight gives you vitamin D, too much ultraviolet rays can cause skin cancer.

That said, it’s not necessary to avoid being out in the sun completely. That’s impossible to do if you’re going outside regularly. But, do try to avoid going out in the sun for too long or when it’s high noon. Also, always have some sunscreen ready to slap on before you go out.

  • Socialize More

Being isolated from friends, family, and society is basically never a good idea. It’s understandable that there are days when you just want to lay around on your Nectar mattress and just have quiet, alone time. But you can’t be isolated every day for long stretches of time.

Of course, sometimes life gets in the way of you being able to connect and communicate with the important people in your life. That being said, you should always try to keep channels of communication open between you and your loved ones. Make the extra effort to contact someone you haven’t talked to in a while or just host a random dinner at your home.

Loneliness is a disease in itself, one that can have physical repercussions as well as emotional ones. It takes a toll and makes you feel bad, so it’s good to try your best to avoid it.

Another way to become healthier is by spending more time with new people. This not only widens your social circle and lets you make new friends, it can help to make you feel better. Join a book club or participate in more events, especially ones that are out of your comfort zone or something you’ve never tried before. You can go with your friends too! That will inject some adventure into your life and help you to gain more socialization. So get ready, grab your beard trimmer if you’re a guy, or put on some makeup if you’re a gal, and head out the door to make new friends and improve your overall health.

  • Cleanse Your System

Sometimes, it’s not what you are eating that’s the problem but the other toxins you are putting into your body. In these instances, it’s important to do what you can to cleanse your system.

Cleansing can be as simple as using the best face mask to rid your skin of the dirt and impurities that clog your pores on a daily basis.

If you have issues like chronic pain, cleansing your system means ditching the over-the-counter drugs, which are only damaging your kidney and liver, and switching to natural painkillers like Kratom. But sometimes more extreme measures need to be taken. If you struggle with drug addiction, then seeking the help of a top-notch drug rehab facility is the best, most sure-fire way to detox your body and get on the long-lasting path to recovery. If you feel like there is something ailing you but you aren’t a drug user, it might also be time to get your annual STD check. Sometimes you can’t cleanse your system until you know what toxins or diseases are in your body.

Conclusion

Living a healthy life may seem like a difficult goal to truly achieve. However, it’s something that’s definitely within reach. If you have the food part of the equation down pat, don’t neglect the other things that can help you be happier and healthier.

Remember, while dieting can keep your body happy and healthy, a good life involves much more than just that.

I love this post. I am going to remember the importance of well-rounded wellness the next time I’m eating Kraft Mac n’ Cheese with my kids because I’m too worn out to prepare something fancier! xx, Emily
